have no illusions not to be disillusioned
in my understanding we will get something like "duel finder" as a BIG pvp feature in U44
and no further furnishings updates as we have already got catalogue in U43, remember?
So it is done, so it goes out of sight!

The devs have said several times that this cannot happen and why it cannot happen. It's because the number of materials in the Craft Bag is fixed each update, and only gets two or three new things added each update (the style mats for the newest motifs, which have been slowing down), meanwhile there are hundreds of new furnishings added each update so compiling such a list and organizing it would take resources and software that they don't have.
Similarly, the devs have also said that support for older hardware (old PCs and last-gen consoles) is the reason that furnishing limits are what they are and they cannot increase those without ending support for older hardware.

with the way they announced the housing feature in finder, and group finder being a recent addition, this seems very likely. a 1v1 duel queue / finder with some kind of leaderboard / top win streak leaderboard.
It's going to be a wild ride in the U44 stream's chat, that I know for sure. everyone get your snacks ready beforehand

Nothing that ZOS says should be taken as a fact. They told us for years that a new class was not possible because of the same limitations, but look where we are now. We have not only the arcanist, but scribing as well with new skills and potentially animations for existing skills coming in the future.

Hahaha. "New card-board for ToT".

If that happens it would definitely solidify a trend where additions to the game depend increasingly on reusing existing assets. Might start to think they're winding down development.

that trend has been there since the very start.
assets get reused all the time it isn't special to this game.
Some examples where assets get reused include:
- Most houses use buildings that exist in towns already.
Most furnishings are assets we see in the world either before or in the update as those furnishings.
Base game furnishings from when housing got introduced were nearly all of course reused assets from the base game.
- Anvil and Kvatch from the Dark Brotherhood dlc use mostly the same building style as base game imperial buildings.
- newer example with The Scholarium from this year's Scribing using the Aldmer style from Summerset.
- some imperials in Blackwood and West Weald using the base game imperial motif
it makes sense as it is fitting.
of course a Duel finder would have similar interface to the other activity finder things and of course some assets could be reused, but that happens as it is convenient when possible.
a duel finder system isn't guaranteed but it sure seems likelier than any other expectations i have seen.
I've seen it suggested occasionally over the years so it wouldn't be entirely unexpected either.

..and we aren't even allowed to discuss PvP with the devs without repercussions.
Fixing Cyrodiil PvP should be a top priority for ZOS right now, even if they have to rebuild the game on a new engine to make it work properly. It was ZOS' decision to go with the engine they're using and if you go way back in the forum posts you will find devs saying the engine was not optimal for ESO. So it's not an unreasonable expectation that ZOS goes back and rectifies their decision to build the game on an engine they knew would struggle to work well with their game.
ESO has the best PvP of any MMO ever created. ZOS could fix it and make it work properly if they just tried.
I'm not much of a PvP'er myself, but I do know ZOS has something planned for PvP in Q4, maybe that will be the fixes and such everyone's asking for? curious as to what it will bring considering it's a part of the 10-year anniversary celebration.
They specifically stated the Q4 PvP whatever was not Cyrodiil related, so we already know it's not what the PvP community has been asking for for many years now.
Ah, I did not know that. That is pretty upsetting I'm sure to a lot of PvP lovers, but one could still be hopeful. Still curious what it'll be if it's nothing Cyro related. Maybe something with battlegrounds? Who knows
I think it'll be a new large scale PvP gamemode, if not a new Battlegrounds mode or map. Something like the PvP equivalent of the Infinite Archive from Q4 last year. But, I can only speculate.

interesting to think of a PvP version of IA, waves of other players versus each other to progress to the next stage until the "boss?" (finalist from other side). Sounds like a tournament bracket system type of mode from the way I imagine it, very cool concept if so
they're winding down development how exactly?
Let me be more specific. It is indeed normal practice to reuse assets and nothing much can be deduced from that per se.
It is a different matter altogether when we start seeing supposedly substantial updates where it is clear the reusing of assets has eliminated whole development departments from the process. The housing update fits the bill. A duel-finder would also fit the bill. This could mark a shift from "we want to build X, what do we need?" to "if we only have a few coders, what can we still do?"
P.S. Of course I don't know if this reflects the reality at ZOS. The housing feature could be a one-off. Perhaps they have all the other departments working on the Q4 update and beyond. But what I'm saying is not beyond the realms of possibility: that this is a way to cut developer resources. I've worked on a project myself where this happened and we could still go on for a while, but within much more limiting constraints.
OtarTheMad wrote: »I don’t have any expectations going into U44. My guess is some new BG maps.
What? Several? I'd say one, with reusing assets of the Archive.
