Sometimes pvp guilds host duels in the arena house (had lava and other traps). Can try looking into that.
Or why not have both? It will be a good indicator of balance in both instances. If matchmade dueling is ever a thing, it would need to be no-cp and no-proc otherwise you’d have entire patches like last one where everyone is running MDW and Vateshran, regardless of their class.
That being said, it would be a lot less fun as a result, and most people wouldn’t take to it, which is probably why they haven’t done it yet.

Yes but no reward to do that, just a potion waste, so a leaderboard could be awesomeOr why not have both? And the rewards (AP and EXP) could be based on time fighted or points.
Because farming duels is easy, so any meaningful reward would be too easy to get I guess?

but i can see why they didnt add other rewards, even that one series of achievements can be cheesed with 2 players, or your self using 2 accounts and just trading wins with another player, or beating your 2nd acct to a pulp constantly lol
I saw admins of WoW's pirates servers around 2012-2014 developing a feature to spectate arena battles. I don't think it's technically difficult for ZOS to do something like that in 2024.tsaescishoeshiner wrote: »A duel queue that players could spectate would be amazing--but probably complicated to implement.

It’s a shame that in ESO, dueling is entirely fostered by the community with zero support from ZOS and no rewards or recognition, except for the admiration (or lack of lol) of fellow duelists.
The logistics would need to be carefully implemented. Duels would likely need to be no CP. Additionally, it would be a travesty if the map itself had any terrain or line of sight options. It must be a flat space large enough to avoid AoE, but small enough to prohibit excessive kiting.
Also, there would need to be some thought put into how to resolve stalemates. Among the serious dueling communities, the rule of thumb is to cease the duel at ten minutes. A general guideline is that the player that dealt more damage should be the victor; some communities have judges that decide based on sets worn or strategies employed. I think greater damage done would be a reasonable place to start.
As we all know, there should be a ban list on sets worn. This would likely take some collaboration with the community for ZOS to properly gauge. A ban list of sets wouldn’t be difficult to implement, as we already see something similar in no proc Cyrodiil and IC. I don’t think it should be as restrictive as the no proc ban list to engage player creativity, but there certainly are sets that should be removed from the format.
This would be a huge win for ZOS, as it likely wouldn’t take a ton of effort to implement, but would be seen as a huge feature.
