WILDLY Inappropriate

I'm cool with the M-rating, that's awesome, great, it's adult friendly, yadda yadda. But the sheer magnitude of which I'm seeing names that are just wildly inappropriate is borderline sickening.

Now some of them I find funny as hell and in the right environment I would cheer those people on, but names like *Expletive Deleted* Von *Expletive Deleted*bath. Funny as all hell, if it were in Call of Duty or Halo or something where you can expect 10 year olds yelling at each other in voice chat, calling each others mother's *** and other monikers that would make a sailor blush.

Am I alone in thinking this is getting a bit out of hand? It's funny and all but I REALLY don't think ESO is the environment for stuff like this.

Maybe I'm crazy.

There are always some people who are 'creative' with their player/guild names and you see them around in every game.
That doesn't mean they are allowed though , there are naming policies. Report them if they bother you and move on.

If you see an offensive name in game, report it - it is against the TOS to have names that are offensive.

Oh I do but I'm of the thought that there's gotta be a better way of doing this. Something more proactive, such as instituting naming restrictions so they can't use names like that in the first place rather than a reactive system where they address the problems on a case by case basis.

But hey, they know more about running a game than I do so, meh.

Report them in game if it offends you. Naming and shaming isn't allowed on forums.

Report them. Bad names is an option in reporting. I've reported a few myself.

Elder Scrolls has always had a more adult tinge to it than most other games, I do not mind the freedom they allow in that regard. Unfortunately, the adult tinge does not always apply to the current playerbase.

I would report them, mature is the rating. The names that are described are not mature names. They seem pretty immature and as it has already been pointed out, they are reportable

If they are obnoxious and yell about it repeatedly or yell sexually explicit stuff repeatedly; I report it. If they are just hanging around being immature quietly: I don't.

I am arguing with some one because the ridiculous names that brake ToS are everywhere and bothering their game play....don't you have anything better to worry about?

Not to mention the all the vulgarity in chat...I agree with OP, there is a huge problem here.

The fact that even if it does offend you, all you simply need to do is report/ignore the person, and move along.

I'd like to show you the first segment of your post. The part where you said rated M. If you can't handle some potty-mouth then I suggest you go play something rated "E" and stop trying to push your views on others. No one's stopping you from turning off your chat box If it offends you so much.

However If you want to play with your chat box turned on then I'm sorry, I guess you'll just have to deal with those people, so please report them If it bothers you so much, and refrain from posting on the forums.

I'm all for vulgarity and sexual humor, all for it. But stuff like this just doesn't belong in an Elder Scrolls setting.

If you wanna rage and be butthurt because I pointed out a POTENTIAL problem, then by all means, go right ahead.

But don't ever, EVER think you have the right to tell me or anyone what they should or shouldn't do with their time.

Go play with your trains, cupcake.

It's a problem with an easy fix/solution, because you can report and ignore these people, and then you never see them again.

I'm not complaining that I have to click buttons, I could care less - the fact that I find these names unnecessary doesn't stop me from reporting them, I don't get all butthurt and cry Armageddon. I report and move on.

But there comes a point, where you start to notice a growing trend and you think to yourself "How in the hell are people getting away with this?"

What I'm suggesting, is to make things easier on the Powers that Be, but attacking it at the source. Rather than having to go through tickets of reports stacking no doubt miles high by now. The institution of a naming restriction that corresponds with the ToS would take a whole ton of work off their desk.

I'm just making suggestions and pointing out things I notice.

I'm not pushing my opinion on anyone, you're entitled to your own.

I'm not telling ZOS how to do their job, as I mentioned in my original post "they know how to run a game better than I do".

I'm not wringing my hands and letting my world come to a screeching halt just because I read a bad word. I'm one of the most foul-mouthed people I know.

Personally i find it a bit funny most of the time when i see like Legolas the Huntard (have to change a letter or two not to name and shame

). But i guess people do what they want to do and the above is not even the worst ones i've seen.

On day two or so i think i was around lvl 30ish i saw a guy quest with me and i couldn't help but laugh and I know it was immature and all but still...I can't name here but it rhymes with ickslap

I just thought that'd be funny if that guy ever went raiding and so and to be called out on voice com to do something.

Yeah and those folks with there xxxinsernnoobnamexxx names are also most of times the most vocal on zonechat. I even seen a guy with a name about doing certain things with your mother in it and i find that very sick. (In and out of game)

The ToS for one, also, general civilized society for seconds?

Ignoring violations of established code-of-conduct makes you part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Justifying those who openly break rules as "just playing their way" or the like, makes you even more so.

That being said, I've only been offended enough to report one (non bot) name since the game went live;
...& it took me three days of it nibbling at the back of my brain to get me to do so.
