Could we please convert all Cyrodiil Repair Kits to the new kind?

Since the new kind works for all prior uses I would rather have an automatic conversion, but even being able to manually convert or exchange them would be ideal. That would free up storage spots.

I will until they are gone of course, but they are separate, meaning I now need 3 spots in my bank for them.

The new kind don't work as well as the old ones. I used to be able to repair the rams as we struck the fd's now it just failes.

It's not like it couldn't be done. They converted the jewelry platings and grains.

The only drawback is that some wall kits would now repair doors, etc. Just combining them all would remove all the others and theoretically save them some space.

This should have happened automatically when they made the change to the new repair kits. Not doing so just left a bunch of clutter in the game, and, in the process, a bunch of unnecessary stuff for the server to keep track of.

I would also like to see this. I mentioned it during PTS and am still annoyed they didn’t swap the old ones over. 😕

It's pretty obvious to everyone, including them, that's what should have happened, yet they didn't do it like that. Why? Probably because it would be resource intensive in terms of database operations and would have resulted in a longer downtime than they preferred. That's the only reason I can think of.

Sure, they've done it before, but this is for Cyrodiil which is low priority for them. If you need proof, just look at how long it took them to address the critical crashing and rollback bug back in April. Players didn't even get a warning.

I'm not saying this with any level of spite. It is what it is and I've accepted this reality.

They claim many changes happened to limit database space. This would have been a fix required for that if the reasoning was correct.

i dont think i ever bought repair kits, and the only ones i did buy were the door repair kits because it was too rare to use the wall repair kits, and i never found it useful to repair siege (i just buy more siege lol)

when i did get large stacks of the repair kits i did have some luck selling them on guild store, except for the siege repair ones, always deleted those immediately

most of the repair kits i usually got were from the whitestrake pvp event as they were in basically every pelinel box

I use the siege repair kits for when rams get burned or the lancers are about to degrade and fail. I usually have enough of them from the PvP event rewards that I never have to buy them.

I used to keep both door and wall repair kits but never bothered with the mile gate repair kits.

all new repair kits are already 1 type that works for everything

so you have the option to buy the new kits that do work on everything or keep using the old ones till you run out

eventually the old ones will run out unless people decide to keep them for collectors items

As has been pointed out the last few times this exact question came up...

It likely has to do with there being several ObjectIDs that they're turning into a new one. That's not a 1:1 conversion anymore. Yes, that's what they did with the JC mats... and that also presented issues on PTS since then they had to reformat every JC furnishing plan to use the 'grains ObjectID' instead of the 'plating ObjectID' like they did, otherwise they woudn't be useable.

Here, you needed to turn Siege, Wall, Door, and Bridge kits all into one, so that's 4 ObjectIDs that were being unified.

That's the same way it worked for the standard repair kits and soul gems when they had the levels removed - the lower level ones (which most people didn't have) are still legacy and can still be found on guild traders, but the max-level ones became the all-encompassing ones. They didn't choose one of the Cyro kits to be the 'default' this time, likely since it wasn't like the other kits in which 99.9% of people used one and the others were legacy, so they just made a new item.

In order to convert the others, they'd have to then write an additional program (read: more dev time and more server downtime) to go through every account (and their storage, bank, character inventories x up to 20) to count how many of each kit there were and remove those items before adding back the new ID kits (in the same places!). Or they could just let the old ones run out while the new ones were in. I know which sounds like the timesaving strategy, at the expanse of a minor inconvenience to players.

I was really hoping for this. I have so many of these old repair kits, it would be bad economic sense to destroy them and it must take up more space on the servers. Not sure on the technological side for it. Maybe there could be an option to convert them at the siege merchant at the alliance bases?

I can’t remember exactly how much the old door and wall kits cost, I know the wall kits were more than the door kits, but I think it is costing me more AP to keep the new ones and just use them for doors and walls.

Scripting actions like that is a very simple dev task, especially when compared to other things. It does require purposeful testing of course, but as you noted they did it with repair kits already.

90 gold each; no clue how much AP (I save AP for buying Dawn Prism for master writs.... like I save Tel Var for buying hakeijo ditto). I've still got a bunch left; I'm just using up the old ones as needed.

A new PvP event! No questions asked handgun repair kit turn in! Each player will receive 1 AP per kit and one pat on the back for the whole transaction.
    Kit Tips:
You can repair a forward camp to full with just 1 or 2!
After your defense tick, put one repair in the wall to get an additional residual tick later!
You can repair that player's lancer/coldfire while they shoot it, that's teamwork!
After you capture the mine, the keep outer postern wall spawn in at 57% - ripe for a quick flagging - if you don't rep it!

Then I misunderstood his point. I don't keep lower level kits and none of my characters earns them now, so I didn't catch that part.

The scripting part is one of the easiest dev tasks though. Testing it is more challenging, but not making the script.
