What triggers Ulfsild's Contingency?

Hi, a few questions about this new scripture ability (Ulfsild's Contingency). Do abilities that do not target an enemy, e.g. Shadow Cloak or Wizard's Surge, also trigger the explosion or ability effect? If so, is there a way to create a variant that only activates when damage is dealt to make it easier to build?

For example, it's a nuisance when this damaging ability (e.g. flames) is triggered by Shadow Cloak (an effect that's supposed to hide you on the defensive) and reveals you. If only you would much rather have the damage proc on the upcoming damage ability. :)

Does Ulfsild's Contingency also trigger when activating an Ultimate Ability (which consumes Ultimate as a resource)?

    On PTS v10.0.4...

    Shadow Cloak triggers it. Surge triggers it. Ultimate triggers it. There is no way to alter the trigger condition.

    After you cast Contigency, any next ability cast will proc it. That includes all normal skills and ultimates. It can even proc off itself if you recast Contigency.

    Does bash and roll still proc it?

    OK, thanks then the ability is random and yet rather bad because it can't really be timed :s :'(

    Yes, I just tested it and both bashes and dodge rolls still proc the skill.

    Not sure why you say it's random? It's just delayed by 1 global. You cast Contingency, and the next thing you cast procs the Contingency effect. It isn't random, it's just delayed.

    Yes, they do, but bashing only on aggressive/potentially aggressive enemies (red, yellow, or white-outlined NPCs and creatures), not the passive 1-hp critters.

    Mounting probably would proc it too, if that had a cost - it is coded as an ability and procs Spell Recharge on Altmer.

    That's true of course it's not the actual definition of random. However, you actually want to use the ability to stack damage then the enemy puts you in trouble, you have to dodge -> it triggers, you have to heal yourself on the worse bag bar -> it triggers. So you lose the damage potential of the front bar. I would like to be able to use this skill as an offensive or defensive one. E.g. only triggers if you cause damage with an ability that has a cost or if defensive only triggers when healing.

    You can use it for some AoE burst, or just as a regular AoE spammable. Because using Contingency procs the AoE effect of your last contingency. So you can use it as a flame or frost damage spammable--just on a one-second delay for the first cast. So you can have a nice Frost or Flame AoE spammable with Mages Guild passives?

    Otherwise, I don't think it'll be more useful unless they change the trigger. Triggering on the next attack is only so-so outside of certain burst PvP settings.

    @Seraphayel

    It makes a pretty decent replacement as a Magicka Barbed Trap. Initial damage, DoT, and minor force with no downtime (from arming time). And easier to ensure it activates.

    It's honestly whatever you want it to be. Scribing skills can be fully customized within the confines of the allowable parts. I use this on my healer in the new trial (obviously more support oriented), and it's a nice little shield with some mitigation for my group.
