Lost quest progress on account?

I just logged onto my account, and to my surprise, my characters were in different places than I last left them. To my greater surprise, it seems that some of my questing progress has been lost, on at least two, maybe three characters? At first I didn't quite realize it, but a mounting sense of deja-vu was setting in, until I reached the first boss of the quest I was on. Then I was 100% certain I'd just done that not quite a week ago. I log on almost every day, but only play about an hour. So its not a ton of progress, but its enough that, I now have to re-play about a weeks worth of content...across I think three different characters.

Does this happen to other people? Was there some kind of data loss event that caused this? I did a few searches, couldn't find anything recent... Very strange. First time this has happened to me.

The first thing that comes to mind is to ask-- Did you log into the PTS by mistake?

I've never logged into PTS. I'm 100% certain it was the normal NA server.

I've seen threads about this same thing happening to players over the past month or so, as well as other weirdness. It may have also happened to me sometime this month, but I'm not sure. I just noticed that when I logged into a character one day, I was standing in a different location (Outlaws Refuge) than my usual logoff spot (writ boards). But I couldn't confirm, because I had been in that Outlaws Refuge at some point when I played previously, and maybe I'd just gotten disconnected before I could leave and then forgotten about it?

My partner had his own "weirdness" about half a month ago. He signed in, got to the character select select, and the character it displayed as having last been played was one he hasn't touched in almost a year because it's just a storage alt. My partner and I weren't both home and in game at the same time, so he couldn't ask me, "Hey, before I load a character, can you check your friends list and see when I was last online and what character I logged off with?"

It's pretty worrisome, but at least so far, I haven't seen really people reporting malicious activity on their accounts...just, characters moved, swapped at select, and sometimes quest progress lost. Does not exactly fill me with confidence for the stability of this game.
