Reporting Bots a waste of time?

Funny enough, I have never run into a single bot in months of playing FFXIV. I think maybe I ran into ONE multibox guy, but he was a real person and would even talk to you, and was only using the followers to heal and buff himself, not farm and ruin the economy.

In fact out of the half dozen MMO's I have played in the last decade, this is the worst botting I have ever seen, which leads me to believe it is by design. There is simply no way a code exploit that allows flying, spinning, invisible, under the world bots to do what they do could go over a month without patching if it weren't.

I reported dozens of bots in FFXIV. They would just teleport from node to node harvesting while under the influence of the harvesting stealth. They were mostly in the low level areas. For the most part nothing ever seemed to happen to them, so stopped bothering. There were rampant chat bots spamming messages. I would report them and ignore them. And weeks later I would still see them logged in.

Perhaps I was just fortunate. But one thing I definitely never ran into was the content breaking mob farming bots that clear every public dungeon and boss leaving you with no way to reliably pick up crafting gear. Public dungeons in this game are simply a waste of time and an exercise in frustration. Literally a dozen spear-spamming templars in every single one clearing every single mob, all with names like "dasfadsfadf". If they are doing anything about it, I sure as hell haven't noticed.

I applaud anyone who is actually reporting bots.

When i see a train on 5-6 bots running in circles clipping into each other, I just wonder, how am i supposed to report them? Run after them and hope i target the right one in that clipping-mess?
