using scribing to replace stalking blastbones

hey folks I am in a pinch here. I am really missing stalking BB and tried to replace it via the new scribing system. But I could not find an adequate skill combo.
What I tried: tomebearer - flame damage - class mastery - something. It has roughly the same tooltip as stalking would have but the 2s bug me out.

Also classmastery script on necro seems broken because as long as a tether is bound to your last corpse you will not create a new corpse. Can anyone confirm this or did I do something wrong?

Of course Necro would benefit the least from the scribing system. 😒

    Any good dot skills ?
Crown Crates are a trap. Don't fall for the gamble! Balance? What Balance? Balance, smellance.
    Necro for them RP feels.

Main problem is GLS was suppose to be a more easy solution to damage dealing by providing a long term buff in replacement of the short term 3s mini game BB entails. You would think +15% dot damage from GLS and +10% dot from Rapid Rot would make Necro prime candidates for Scribing. However, since you still need corpse generation with GLS and the only way to get it is through Flame Skull, you're rotation is forced even more into spamming that any chance you can which takes away from potentially creating a dot focused build.

GLS sucks, but at minimum, as I suggested originally, it should create corpses on its own on a 3-5s cooldown.

There are actually a few good dots a Necro could make use from if the corpse generation wasn't a factor:
    • Wield Soul = damage focus + dot signaute = 20s st dot (more of a spammable, than a dot)
    • Soul Burst = damage focus + dot signature = 5s aoe dot (like DK's Talons)
    • Contingency = damage focus + dot signature = 6s aoe dot (like DK's Talons)
    • Traveling Knife = damage focus + dot signature = 5s st dot (more of a spammable, than a dot)
    • Smash = damage focus + dot signature = 5s aoe dot (like DK's talons)
    • Trample = damage focus + dot signaute = 5s aoe dot (like DK's talons, but with an annoying cast time that they hopefully get rid of)

You could in theory create a Necro dot build which rotates a bunch of 5s aoe dots together if GLS was designed better. In reality, I'd just stick with Blighted Blastbones, cast it every 3 GCDs, and use whatever skills give the most dps in between which may or may not include some of these 5s aoe dots. This way you don't need to rely on Flame Skull.

The biggest issue with GLS, imo as someone who's played Necro for a few thousand hours, is that there's simply no reason to take the +15% damage boost to DoTs when using both Defiles from Blighted makes for better pressure. It just completely misses the mark on design - if Blighted was the morph that got changed, it would make much more sense. ZOS instead decided to delete the burst morph to add another pressure morph, and the pressure of GLS is just straight up worse than Blighted.

Think of it like this: if Blighted reduces healing by 18%, you are effectively increasing your damage by 18%, since the damage you're dealing will be 18% harder to heal up. In addition to that pressure, Blighted is still applying quite a lot of damage itself every 3 seconds.

GLS is supposed to be a pressure skill, but it is only increasing your damage with other skills, and is otherwise a dead cast. Add that to the long list of functional issues the skill has (LoSing your own buff, the delay on receiving the buff, not being able to cast out of combat, having far worse corpse gen, etc) and it's mind boggling that this is the direction they took for the skill.

TL;DR: GLS should have never been designed to be a pressure morph, since Blighted Blastbones provides far better pressure than GLS could ever hope to achieve. GLS should have instead leaned into the utility aspect of the skill more by boosting healing and providing even more corpses/interactions with corpses

Its still so wild to me that a change that was meant to help necromancer ended up being a massive nerf for necromancer.

    Just delete the class tbh.
Struggling to find a new class to call home. Please send help.
