What I learned about Scribing at the ESO Anniversary event

I'm already used to getting killed within a few seconds of engaging in a PvP fight, so getting killed within a few milliseconds won't be that much different. :D
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

I wonder if Scribing is some sort of "skill you can put in your backpack" and once you make one you can share it between characters? That doesn't seem to have been mentioned by any of the invited players

I'm sure this is going to wreak havok on PvP.

Scribing should be a purely cosmetic thing, not something people have to buy if they don't want it. Now there are going to be people in groups and zones that have augmented abilities that those who haven't paid for them won't have. Sounds fair. Not.

It's not any different from classes or psijic or any other of the optional skill lines.

Yes it is, or certainly appears to be.

Well yes its different in a number of ways. but not in that it's a skill line we have to pay for access to.
Warden Necro Arcanist and Psijiic at the very least have already set the precedent, not to mention antiquities.

So everyone will get access to scribing, not just those who buy the latest chapter? Am I misunderstanding this?

Scribing is from Gold Road, but Arcanist is from Necrom, Necro is from Elsweyr, Warden is from Vvardenfell, Psijic is from Summerset.

So my assertion that the scribing abilities are in the pay to win category, and will create an unbalance of power within the community, and that power imbalance we be felt most noticeably in PvP is accurate. It's buy the new chapter or suffer a debuff in strength and abilities relative to those who do buy the new chapter.

I'd like to take this opportunity to demonstrate the difference between pay-to-win and a game system expansion.

Pay to win would be like Clash Royale, a card game where your time spent playing and playing well, correlates to your power as all upgrades are time and in game money gated. You can put real money into the game to skip all this and just buy out the best cards and proceed to just crush everyone who did not invest until you hit the whales. Not okay.

Or also the MOBA pokemon unite where you can buy upgrades for your characters with real money and just crush in the team fights in that game because your stats are inflated. Not okay.

This is a new system you have to pay to unlock but do not get to use everything at full power immediately you have to find and upgrade through time spent to get all the good stuff. You paid for access not to win, and that's okay.
