You could use seals of endeavor instead

Wait a minute... you don't like the actual cost of an item being buried beneath multiple layers of differing currencies to get you to overlook that actual cost of the item? 400 Crown Gems takes roughly 10K worth of Crown Crates to "earn," so you can work out roughly what it would cost you in cold hard cash to buy that customized action.

That was my primary point here. IIRC the other items are 600 Crowns. This is far more expensive. The trend is definitely not good.
And I recall most "expensive" Crown Gem items being 400-600 Crown Gems in my early play days, and that was for fancy mounts. The Crown Gem cost keeps going up for everything and this is just another example.
And this is after I pay for ESO+ on both the PC and PS5 AND had to buy housing on each of 4 servers, because "account-wide" is not account-wide.
The risk I see for ZOS is that many people will hit a point of saying "forget this" completely, as many other games are facing today.
I just added ESO+ to both a few months ago, but this still disturbs me.
And I have something like 5.5K Crown Gems on PC-NA. Fewer on the others, but they will likely sit there unused. Not worth spending them just for a different look when I port.
I did finally spend some of my pile of Endeavors, but I will probably continue to pile them up for the most part as well because nothing is compelling enough to spend them and prices keep going up for those as well.
I guess some of this is the same as the Shrinkflation we are seeing in groceries....
I have this recall, have had it for some time. Something tells me it was in a set of crown crates at one time but I could be wrong.
That said, I absolutely love it. Just saying.
It won't change anything to complain about the cost of something, whether it be in gems, crowns or whatever.
It's simple... if you can't afford it, or if you think it's not worth the price, then you don't buy it. Same as anything on the shelf in any store anywhere. There have been many things in the crown store that I liked - for gems, or crowns - but I felt they just weren't worth the price. So I shrugged and moved on. Didn't come to the forums to complain. I make my statement by just not buying it, like any consumer.
If enough people don't buy, then maybe the price will change. I'm betting enough will though that it stays the same.
ZoS is a business. If buyers don't like the price, then don't shop.

Money is tight everywhere sadly.
I honestly think that zos should lower Crown prices to a better rate, as in cut the prices by 40%. but that's not likely. The trend these days is to actually raise prices to make revenue look better.

These must be making a lot for ZOS I guess. I would love some alternate actions but I wouldn't pay Crowns for them, let alone Crown Gems.

The only way to get those blue gems is dismantling crap from Oubouros twitch boxes. In years of playing ESO I couldn’t buy 1 of the more flashy items yet
Good for the wallet lol 😝
Unlike physical goods, game companies do not bear the cost of materials, or packaging, or shipping or paying workers to manage their retail, etc, etc. But many gaming companies have been pushing the envelope for YEARS on how much they can get away with. Mounts in ESO used to cost 800 crowns, for example. No longer.
And the more gaming companies hide behind arbitrary currencies, the more they muddy the actual cost of the item.
So I say let people speak up. Let them tell a company why they’re not satisfied instead of just seething quietly and watching the trend dip further and hoping silently that enough people feel the same way and said company won’t employ marketing gurus and psychologists to keep pushing.
Endeavors were a good choice to add but they are still designed to push you to the store. There’s a reason everything is priced exactly the way it is. I welcome a change in the industry, hopefully someday.

I have no problem with people speaking up about it, that's what forums are for and they are free to express their opinion.
My opinion was that it wouldn't change anything. There have been a ton of posts about this or that being too expensive over the years and no, nothing has ever changed.
And as others have said... it probably has not changed because enough people do buy it and support it.
It's rather insulting though of them to refer to those that do as 'whales' or in derogatory terms. People can buy what they want and are willing to pay the price and have the means to do so. Nothing wrong with that and it's completely their right to buy what they want, yet it seems to annoy those that can't do the same. Unfortunate.
Business is business. They will of course always push to the store, as you said. Like it or not, it really is about money in the end.
