    My understanding is it’s NA.

EU was said by the CMs to have the higher concurrency at its peak, which is partly responsible for the higher rate of issues with the server. I don’t recall seeing a statement as to overall population, though, so Soarora might be right on that.

If the concurrency is still higher on EU, then it probably depends on whether your active times correspond with that.

My understanding is that people in Europe tend to pick EU, people in North America tend to pick NA, and then most people in other parts of the world also pick NA, so it gets more players overall but they're spread across far more time zones, whereas most people on EU are in about 4 adjacent time zones.

I imagine they are both fairly active. Even when the player count is low, the mega server helps to ensure a balanced load in a respetive zone.

But something to consider. The EU server is going to be met with at least two hands of multiple languages. You might not always be able to communicate. English is taught as a second language in most EU countries, but its not 100%.

NA might be easier to communicate for pugs/trials/group content etc.

Then there is the ping issue. You REALLY are better of playing on the server that is closest to where you live. Action bar swapping becomes a nightmare with high ping and can completly change how you play, or even make it not fun to play.
If you are in the EU, I'd stick with that.

So choose wisely and best luck in your choice.

Depends on your definition of more :) EU has more players at peak time as it covers a narrow time zone range so player more online at the same time. And as far as I know NA have more players overall but as those users spread out over more time zones the peak numbers there are less.

Which server is best for you will at least partially depend on when YOUR peak time is.

I have a strange IRL schedule, I play on both servers because I have a split shift, and my middle of the day break coincindes with peak EU time, there's honestly a lot of overlap between the two.

Trade for some items is up to twice as high on PC EU, according to TTC. This can't just happen out of nowhere. So most likely there are more players on EU.

I play on both servers because that way I have double the alts with one subscription. Also, I only buy a new chapter once to have it available for both. I started when the EU server tended to go down all the time.

You forget that players in ALL America pick NA despite the lag. It's the only server all Americans can access.

PC/EU, according to the official information. It's a bit old, but I doubt anything has changed.

Seems to me that I heard somewhere that they said EU was more populated than NA, and not just concurrency.

The question I have is whether populations are in the order PSN, PC, then XBox.

Plays both servers. EU always looks more busy. Players are well spread out throughout the zones too. An example would be Wrothgar. I was in Wrothgar on both servers yesterday. EU was very active. NA, I encountered maybe three other players.

What I'd rather know, is why economies are so different. PC EU is nowhere near as expensive as PC NA.

I had a hard time accumulating funds for houses on EU.
