It seems they weren't interested in the item itself but only it's rarity.
I don't get it either, but some people want to have items others can't afford simply because those others can't afford.
Doesn't matter if the item itself is a banner or an apple. As long as it's expensive, it's interesting.
Tells a lot about the people behind the personas if you ask me. I find it sad 🙂
just because you cant understand the point in collecting you dont have to put us collectors in a bad light by stating how greedy and selfish we are... thats basically what you said
it's a furnishing.
people want furnishings to decorate their homes with.
it shouldn't cost 10+ times more than the most expensive home, 3.8 million.
i like collecting! i love getting all the event outfit collectibles and things like every year's jubilee cake, however i would not get upset if zos allowed people to get jubilee cakes from years they weren't able to attend.
collect for yourself because you want it yourself, but please not because you want it exclusively for you or a select few lucky/extremely rich people.
they are doing that as far as ive seen. but ppl wont get the full cake as the original but just a plate with 1 piece on it. which i also think is cool. but just destroying rare items like that isnt right if you ask me. if they wanted to make the banner available to everyone they probably shouldve let it drop bound as other stuff is like the books or banners in Scriveners Hall. still unsure if this is intentional or not tho. opened a support case

is it considered rare if ppl can drop it within 10min 3 TIMES IN A ROW?? F*CK NO! i never said i wouldve had anything against a small increase of the drop rate, but SMALL not by 99,9%... can you imagine how anyone have to feel who wasted weeks, probably months trying to get that rare gem bcs they really wanted or paid 100M+ in order to have something exclusive to put in their room and now it drops more often than golden mats on daily crafting writs? you were probably jealous on ppl who had it and bcs you were not able to get.
weird accusation to make.
Drop rates on cosmetic items should either be fixed immediately after release, or not at all.

It doesn't look like ZOS is going to remove the cakes (I think they have added a new full cake too for this anniversary). They just simply added the cake pieces which is great, really

If it had gotten a modest increase, yes, that would be a good thing. But it went from "for all practical purposes this item does not exist" to "extremely common" with the patch. So, kind of defeats the point of adding it to a rare items collection if the item isn't rare.
Also, something that I think people are overlooking is that this not being documented meant that the OP couldn't make an informed decision about their purchase. It's not like say the dungeon motifs. Because I know the anniversary events exist, I also know those items don't tend to hold onto their rarity. So, if I see a page I'm missing for high price just before the anniversary hits, then I know not buy it. And if I just want it now and don't care about potential changes in price and buy it then and there? Well, that's on me, because the information was available to me. I chose not to look into it.
Anyone looking into the Sixth House Banner prior to OP's thread would see that it was extremely rare. Now that word sounds like it's spreading, others will be in a position to make better choices.
But none of that applies to the OP, who was not given the information by ZOS needed to make an informed decision about their purchase. As a result they lost a LOT of coin. I'd hope that even those that think it should be common should at least agree that this change should be in the patch notes.

Elder, if I could offer one small piece of advice, when someone says they are not willing to part with an item, move on and leave that person alone!

50 million gold, to brag about that to the handful of other players (or less) who visit yer house!
I know this doesn't sound nice, but I unironically thought that some people in here were trolling. I didn't know there's people that play this game just to collect rare items.
To me it seems a good change that something simple as a banner furniture is now more available to people that want to actually use it in their house. Too bad about your gold though. I'm afraid it's a good practice to always triple check when spending that amount of gold...

yeah i had to learn that, thanks blybut that has nothing to do with the matter here

Agree that the game should always be open to fixes for problem parts of it. Disagree that the drop rate of a single furnishing item is a problem part of the game. It wasn't a problem before, but changing it has made it into one.

I’d have more sympathy if the dude spent time searching for it themself, didn’t jump on a perceived steal of a price, on an item dependent simply on RNG and not skill, wholly to get satisfaction of an exclusionary nature: look what I have and you don’t.
If "This item was bugged" and someone is selling it for 50M++ because it's very hard to get due to a game bug, is it fair for other players to accept this bug exploitation in selling? No. The seller is inflating the price for something entirely unacceptable, solely because the item was bugged. Isn't this considered exploiting a bug on the part of the seller, and against the Code of Conduct?
