    Someone reported gear being taken by guards before, even though it wasn't stolen. The fact that this is still happening after that initial report is pretty disturbing.

    @ZOS_Kevin This is something that should definitely be reported to the team, I think.

    I wonder if "locking" the reconstructed gear would help protect it from being confiscated?

    That make sense. If you are apprehending a suspect, the first you do is take away anything remotely resemble a weapon. You know, like spork, etc.

    Did you have more than 161 gold on your character?

    IIRC guards might remove something not stolen if there were not enough gold to cover the bounty.
    I'm not sure. It may be from another game.

    Well...
    I never let the guards take anything, since my quick little feet are quite adept at running. It really is a crime that the guards were never taught to swim during basic training!

    Hmmm, interesting. I've been looking for a weapon lately that I knew I'd previously reconstructed and they're no longer in my inventory - my thought process this entire time has been surely I wouldn't have destroyed golded out weapons.

    Probably another game. In ESO they'll remove your gold and put it towards the bounty. Never take an item unless it's stolen. What happened to TC was a glitch and a pretty bad one.

    I lock all my good gear so I don't accidentally deconstruct it. I wonder if that would keep the guard from getting it?
