sorcs are really good at high burst (crystal weapon + overload + enchantment proc can really hurt along with if they hit you with mages wrath and curse), while you note stam sorc, they can still use all of these skills pretty effectively (crystal weapon already stam, overload is ult)

they also can have high pen so the 33k armor is probably only about 10-15k armor to a proper equip sorc

you also have less mitigation without cp in the BGs, so time to kill is lower

wearing certain gear wont prevent you from dying against a skilled player, same goes for the attacking player just wearing specific gear wont guarantee a kill either

shell splitter set?

Maybe, I have used Shell Splitter and it does take time to build up pen unless you're using a lightning staff. Unless its hurricane thats seen as attacking damage then it would build up as soon as he was in melee range. Once maintenance is over I will try it on my stam sorc

Wouldnt shell splitter eat though non tanky players?

Probably lag or even just a desync in damage being reported to you. In those cases you can really only tell by the recap. Or if something like that happens I'll usually go fight them again to see if they can repeat. But yeah it's possible to have a full damage high pen build on sorc and overloads could have been weaved in to achieve that much damage in a very short window.
