Restoration Staff / Self Healing Options for Solo Sorcerer?

I am a sorcerer leveling alone with 5 light and 2 heavy armor. My build is good, and I do like it so far, but...I know all the class have at least one self heal skill. I run a destro fire staff, and love it. But I have no self heals (DK=Dragon Blood, Nightblade=Strife, Templar has a few) But sorcerer has ONLY blood magic with the small perfect when using Dark Magic spells (I rarely use many of them, lol). I guess I am asking if there are any skills a sorcerer can use aside from Blood Magic to help heal a little more for us solo players lol. Is it worth picking up a resto staff to self heal?

Once you get your sorcerer's Dark Magic up to 30 a pretty sweet self heal opens up... the problem is that I got so used to not having one before then, I keep forgetting to use it, heh.

I run a tank sorceror using heavy armor and a two hander... I rely on Critical Surge under storm calling to heal myself coupled with critical rush on the 2 handers. Critical Surge could help heal you too if you find ways to increase your staffs crit chance. But Dark Exchange is the main sorceror self heal I believe.

In short, yes it is worth it. Once you get to level 15 and can swap weapons in combat it is even more useful. There are several other threads about the benefits of the healing staff, so I won't go into them here.

This might be exactly what I needed! Thank you!

I use restrostaff as main weapon and have rapid regeneration in my castbar

also because of the extra damage you get from the passives of restrostaf ;)

Yes, Dark Exchange. It has pulled me from 5% health, to 60% WHILE getting ganged on by 5 enemies at once wailing on me. combined with overcharged armor and spell resistance from light passives and bound armor.

I chose the lower stamina cost for it's morph. Allows for more usage in emergencies, and also allows me to have reserve stamina for blocking and dodging.

One other option (available to everyone) is a heal-and-damage over time skill in the Mages Guild line. It's not a huge amount of healing, but since you can drop it on multiple targets and you can probably keep it up constantly as a staff-sorc, it's a decent option if you don't want to have to equip a resotration staff.

If you use the restoration staff just use the area effect heal on yourself, you can also use the two target heal but its less effective.
The stamina to health and magic also restore magic
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I use resto staff + Dark Exchange. You can also restore mana with resto in a pinch, but I use exchange for that. I like to always be casting something, I don't like downtime. I wish we had better heals and I didn't need resto staff TBH, but gotta deal with the trade offs of playing the class.

I don't like surge, but lots of sorce swear by it and it is another very viable self heal if you are actively doing damage. It can't heal you unless you are hurting tings.

OP - I know you were asking about slotted heal skills but what about crafted potions in the quick access slot? A crafted magicka/heal potion can give an instant spike restore and a boost in regen over time (especially if skill traited for extended time). That would open a skill slot for a damage dealer.

I also slot Entropy from the mage's guild and have max'd daedric protection.

Critical Surge, but it only heals when you get critical strikes, so you need to boost your crit for it to be reliable. Use Inner Light from the mages guild to add 20% crit rate and wear 5 light armor to get the 10% bonus crit passive from the light armor line. Try to always be using a weapon that has the crit trait on it. If this is appealing to you, do some research on it because youll need a dedicated spec and gear to make this build work well.

Theres also conjured ward -> hardened ward from the daedric summoning line is a very strong self shield once you get that line high enough to unlock it.

Edit, while using a resto staff, use combat prayer, very useful self and group heal/buff.
