My guess, NA servers will only need a partial reset, EU servers will need some additional backend work for some reason.1 -

ZOS is working on another game, but this is one of those times it's helpful to remember that a game studio is not a single entity and is instead made up of many people with different jobs and skills. The engineers who maintain the servers will not be the same people who write the story, design the art and make the 3D models and so on, so it's unlikely they'll have much involvement with the new game.
Even if it's also going to be online and so they're getting the server engineers involved in setting that up I don't think they'd schedule it for the same day they're doing maintenance, requiring them to drag out the maintenance because they have to stop what they're doing to work on something else. ✭✭Also the NA start is early for an extended maintenance. For short maintenance such as this the usual start time is 6:00 am EST. I know because starting at 4:00 am cuts off an hour of my usual playing time.

Why did they *have* to get lost though? Nobody thought that people would be curious and frustrated about the blatant time difference and thought to preempt it with an explanation when the times were first posted?
On another note, why has this game gotten so much worse ever since the hardware "upgrades"? Every other maintenance is some mysterious backend work and the times have spiralled out of control.8 -

There used to be promises of better communication and I think people were also full of expectations that something would change. Unfortunately, it is the opposite on the important issues, and it is better to keep quiet than to explain things to people.Really sorry for my english7 -
