Getting more master writs

Does level 50 clothing and Tailoring at 10/10 give a greater chance at a master writ drop than level 50 clothing and Tailoring 1/10? I'm wondering if spending the skill points to max each craft is worth it for master writs especially for a craft with expensive mats like Jewelry.

"If you have completed a maximum-tier Crafting Writ, there is a chance that you will receive an invitation to complete a Master Crafting Writ. The frequency of Master Writ invites is determined by your character's overall trade skill mastery. This includes research, Motif knowledge, and achievement completion."

I have found that by getting to level 50, learning all the traits, and learning as many of the motifs as you can, you will increases the chance of master writ drops.

I have a master crafter who is fully level 50, has all the traits and pretty much all the motifs, and she gets the majority of the master writs that I get from doing daily crafting writs.

Then I also have a couple of alts who are also fully level 50 with all the traits, and for whom I will buy up cheaper motifs for them to learn. This then gives me a greater chance of getting master writs when doing dailies.

My alts in no way get as many as my main, but they get a fair few.

You should aim to buy up the cheaper motifs. Motifs are often cheaper right after an event is held in the respective zones that drop them.

Trying to summarize a lot in a short post.

You MUST do writs at max level to get a master writ (either 10/10, 8/8, or 5/5 depending on craft)

For durable writs (BS, WW, Cloth), Your odds go up with more motif knowledge and more trait research (ZoS is on record at saying they are about the same in percentage added), and motif knowledge is heavily weighted to the first few you learn (base game racial motifs do NOT count)

For jewelry - research traits

For Enchanting - translated runes

For Alchemy - learn all 4 traits of all base game reagents

For provisioning - learn purple and gold quality recipes.

This is just your chance of getting a master writ, it then rolls if it's gold and for the voucher value, so your knowledge does NOT change the ratio of Gold:Purple master writs you get.

oof ok, I'll pass on alt crafting for master writs because it's going to be insanely expensive to learn all motifs on every character.

You don't need to learn them all lol, as I agree that would be rather expensive. Just the cheap ones. You can pick up motifs for 1k gold for example.

Aim to get just your main crafter up to speed. Then you can branch out and train up some alts if you want to increase your master writ drop rate.

Many people also sell master writs, so it can be worth looking in Tamriel Trade Center or random guild traders to see if any are for sale at a good price.

not sure i been getting gold writs from one that knows no motifs or traits just as often as my main that has every motif there is and trait learnt

I think there is always a chance you can get a master writ after doing a daily crafting writ? I think it just increases the likelihood of getting one if you have learned more traits and motifs, and the answer from Bethesda also mentioned achievements, I am assuming these are crafting achievements, which don't take very long to fully complete.

Oh of course, I should have made clear that fully leveled would mean having tailoring/metalworking/woodworking etc. all at 10/10. I guess I wrongly assumed people doing crafting and master writs would have these all maxed out anyhow.

Also forgot to say that motifs need to be entire chapters not just pages, for them to count.

And regarding crafting achievements. I really wish ZOS would remove Worm Cult style from the crafting general achievements since this motif style only has a rare chance to drop from reward boxes and grab bags during events.
