The concept of pve feels really outdated in the game in 2024. While pvp has only one map, there is so many pve instances which are rarely populated and used...

Short answer is "this is the most stupid suggestion from OP". No thanks.

    OK then, long answer.

First of all, ESO still can't establish decent modern environment based game design.
Most of it is based on "ancient" meta character build game design. So currently, we can't play
both PVE and PVP on the same game design basis. ZOS build PVE and PVP just like the
totally different game title. This is the first reason which I can't accept those type of suggestion.

Secondly, ESO is "Elder Scrolls"+ Online. Major player of this game is traditional Elder Scrolls fan people.
If ZOS do like you said, then it's the end of ESO. Publisher lose major money payment customer.
    It's totally nonsense as business.

But 10% agree with you also. ESO combat design is too much outdated.

Obviously this is a frost troll post. Not even clever or funny.

When I see trolls in a forum or in the comments section of a news website, I'm always very much reminded of a real-life phenomenon that's called "class clowning" where I live (not sure if there's an English word for it). Every elementary school teacher will know that one kid in class that makes weird noises, deliberately stupid comments or asks completely absurd questions just to disrupt the lessons. It's well-known among teachers that these kids usually have a not-so-happy family background and are starving for attention. Also, they often lack skills to get attention in a positive way, by doing something that is actually interesting or impressive. All in all, it's more sad than anything else. Of course I don't know if it's 100% the same with forum trolls (Why "trolls", btw? Why not "clowns" as in the real-life context mentioned above?), but the behavior somehow looks very similar to me.

I know these threads and in none of them I've seen PvErs demanding PvP content to be removed. They ask for a separate PvE instance of Cyrodiil or for a way to mark themselves as non-PvP, so they can do Cyrodiil quests without the PvP aspect, without bothering anyone and without being bothered. No one of them wants to remove PvP.

i mean i agree, if only half of these areas would be turned into pvp area it would be good to begin with. But since pve content is really outdated and all the same, till Q4 it should be really removed and made pvp, as you said.

That thing would die in a week because the PvE content in Cyrodiil is beyond boring.
And several people explained several times that doing quest in Cyro is very easy for everyone, 98% of the time no one will bother you.
But continue closing your eyes and ears and demanding PvE Cyro.
I find this more trolling than OP message.

Interesting assumptions you make there, as I have never posted such a thread. But I have read a few, and I see a big difference in wishing to have an extra feature that doesn't bother any other player, and demanding something that a lot of people enjoy to be taken away. I have nothing against extra PvP content, in fact I have written several times after the latest reveal that I'm happy that PvPers finally get something new.

While I do think the OP's suggestion is a bit excessive...

Does anyone remember the original full proposal of the Justice System?

It was decided not to implement it because it was thought there would be unnecessary griefing but if I recall correctly they were considering allowing people with a bounty on their head(from stealing) to be hunted by other players.

I cannot remember all of the idea but something like above might be worth revisiting, after all stealing already has consequences!

Now they COULD'VE done something like EQ with their Priests of Discord. In EQ, each new character came with a Tome of Discord. You take this tome to the Priest of Discord and turn it in to him, and now your character is PVP.

Maybe have something where you speak to an "enlistment officer" or some such and do a little quest, and presto! Your character is now flagged for PVP in all zones. You're KOS to guards in opposing faction cities, and can be attacked anywhere by other PVP-flagged characters in opposing factions.

It was because they couldn't see a way of making it fun but not exploitable. They made it clear that PvP and PvE must operate in separate areas in future, details below under General Status Updates.

Back then though there was a much larger PVP population, these days there might be less issues.

I do get involved with "criminal" activities and frequently play "dodge the guards", I would not be opposed to playing "dodge the Bounty Hunter" infact way back when, I was disappointed it never came to fruition. 🙂

Excellent post. We have to read all the time about 'no one plays PVP - just make Cyrodiil and IC PVE zones'

Love seeing the shoe on the other foot :)

Also - appears the point was made! Many very angry folks in the comments. Hope these folks understand how they feel and apply that the next time you are upset that there are 2 zones in ESO that you can get killed in by another player.

I don't see any Versus in that, so op is technically correct.

What individual players can do is highly subjective and varies enormously, and anything that doesn't involve player versus player combat represents PvE. I doubt that at any one moment there are more than 10% of the active (i.e. logged in) players engaged in PvP activities with a good percentage of them in Battlegrounds. If we want to kick the other 90% of the players out of the game (including those PvPers who also enjoy PvE) then the OP's suggestion would be a great way of doing it. Fortunately, whether it was serious or not, there is a precisely 0% chance of it ever being adopted.

those threads usually only want a pvp toggle or a separate campaign :)
      which would be completely optional!

this post wants to make all pve zones pvp completely.
it'll never happen, probably both but at least a separate campaign for pve cyrodiil and imperial city should be possible.

      Let me check um....No.

Forcing PvP will do no good at all, it only leads to griefing and ganking. The flag up system that so many other games use is working and could be an option here as well, but completely "forced"? Nope. That would be the quickes uninstall.
