Trying to understand the love for companions.

Many other threads concerning discussions about companions have been allowed to exist in the General section of the forum. Not only that, but by moving the topic, you have minimized exposure to the OP's topic and have essentially ended an otherwise interesting discussion. No one would come to this section of the forum to look for a topic such as this. It is better off in the General section.
Additionally, the players helping players forum seems to be the wrong place for such a topic, as this is a discussion, not someone asking for technical assistance or guidance on how the game functions.

    Thank you!

I hope it doesn't sound unfriendly, as that is not my intention, but I don't understand (literally, I can't comprehend it) why interesting and civil discussions get moved to subforums where not many people see them, normally leading the discussion to end abruptly (I've seen this so many times already and it's always sad).

I can understand that a forum needs moderators to delete comments like personal insults or hate speech. I can also understand moving topics with bug reports or asking for specific help into an extra specialized subforum, because in such cases, not everyone can help, and in the general forum these topics would probably drown somewhere between many discussion-heavy threads, which means they won't be noticed and the user asking for help wouldn't get any. So in this case, moving these topics to a calmer, specialized subforum makes sense as it helps the OP. This is, what matters, in my opinion: That moving makes the user experience better. Moving discussion topics to places where no one notices them anymore, so they just die, doesn't.

I'm not sure, but maybe they want the other 44 subforums to be more frequented by moving topics there, but while that might sound good in theory, we see that it doesn't happen in practice.

Maybe mods can explain these decisions some day, as I'd really be interested what purpose this serves.

to me they are 100% just pets, but pets you can use with any character instead of being limited by class

they provide free dmg, and can help support a weak spot of the character

i usually use the dps companions with tanks, and a healer or tank companion with a dps toon

i dont usually run a healer very much, but either a dps or tank companion for that

i see no reason to not use them, but i do have a few things that bother me about them

first and foremost and the largest issue i have with them: they are not account wide unlocks, you still have to run the (sometimes very long and annoying) intro quest on every freaking character, my newest character only has 3 unlocked (1 tank, 1 healer, 1 dps) i didnt even bother unlocking the others

the other thing that sometimes annoys me is how much they talk, i would like to turn that off completely, the only acceptable option right now for that is "minimal", but it still feels like they talk almost too much
