No they are just killing the bots and force logging them out. I dont think they are banning accounts which is why they come right back. As soon as the person running those bots sees they are dead they just log them back in and run them back to the farming area and run the script again.

If they were actually banning these bot accounts we would not see the bot population grow so much everyday. This along with the fact that they have made numerous game changes lately (making farming containers and bosses lucrative for bots but punishing casual gamers) points to the fact that the gold selling sites are paying way to much for ZOS to stop them. Instead they make these grand appearances every so often and make a show of "removing" the bots so they tell us they are doing something, when the reality is they are not.

Search forums for suspended. They suspend the character now rather than close the account (and so subscription) so you can make another character instead. Source: all the people with characters suspended in error.

Because those people suspended in error went AFK in dungeons with bots, and got booted for not moving.

Is sad but it's just like the government
for all we know Zmax could be getting kickbacks from these bots and gold seller companies..

This seems far-fetched; however, I'm not aware of any official ZOS communication that specifically mentions if the bot accounts are being banned or not. In fact, there are threads about this very topic which don't have any ZOS responses.

There's an official statement about banning botters - just check the announcements section. They ban them, they're trying to stop them.

They are NOT banning accounts - just characters. Source: Me. I was in the wrong place at the wrong time - outside Fort Arand - I got a phone call and, while I was talking, my character was obviously just standing around doing nothing. Next thing I know I saw a GM that I hadn't noticed before. A few seconds later I got booted from the server. Tried to log back in only to find my character had been locked. Contacted customer service to say "Hey, I'm a real person" and got my character unlocked in about 3 hours. During that time I created a new character and played that while I was waiting.

So all y'all sayin here is, the whole bot bashing by GMs recently is nothing but a publicity stunt?

Why do you post this stuff. The CSR's don't give a flying flak about botters...yea they talk a big game, but they are still here.

All they have managed to do thus far is make things harder for the genuine players, while bolstering the pockets of the farmers (sudden inflation of motifs ring a bell).


how are they helping us? removing the gold farmers/bots is a very good idea, penalizing the player-base....not such a good idea.


Here is a solution that will solve all the problems.

MAKE THE DUNGEONS INSTANCE BASED...AND LET FRIENDS QUEST TOGETHER

Pretty much. The proof they say is in the pudding. Well the pudding is damn full of bots these days. Often I see more bots than players.

Unfortunately, currently this is not an exaggeration, and that's not included the ones that operate underground. Granted the bots tend to occur in clusters, so I'll see maybe a 10-20 players over a substantial time span while playing, then run into maybe 3-4 clusters of 4-8 bots. But yes, overall, I'm seeing more bots than players in the areas I quest through (the areas with the main quest lines and the near by side quests).
