Paid Server Change Token (items/gold/materials wipe)? A partial solution for crossplay/cross save.

Alot of people stopped playing this game simply because they've gotten rid of their consoles or moved from a platform to another. Due to the levelling structure of ESO, alot of people, myself included, don't feel like starting an account from 0 because it would take a tremendous amount of time that most can't trade in just to repeat a previous achievement.
A solution would've been adding in crossplay/cross save but there are pros/cons that have been brought to the table countless times on the forums. Therefore, if crossplay/cross save would be too hard to implement, why not allow us to change the servers by purchasing a one time server change token (just like the ones already available in the store).

I've thought about the following issues that could come up with a transfer and some solutions/ideas :

-Regarding the items/valuables that would be transferred between servers, anyone that wishes to transfer would have his entire inventory wiped, including gold and materials. With the addition of the sets in the collectibles tab, it would be convenient because players would still be able to re create the items they've already learned through a transmute table. Why wipe at all? In order to keep the servers economy stable.

-Regarding character names, the transferred characters names would be blank prior to first joining the server. Upon starting the game, the player would be forced to choose a name for that character in order to make sure that the name is not being in use. I don't think there would be any problem with the account names because ESO already requires you to have a pc account to link them together.

I don't see any other reason not to implement this and i don't think it would be too hard to do. Even if it would be a manual process by the devs, i would accept to pay a higher amount of money to get it done. I'm sure there are alot of people that would pay good money to transfer their characters aswell because of the time/money they put in them. Imo it's a win-win situation. The game gets more budget because i am sure alot of people will swap and the players are happy. Old players might come back for this and perhaps contribute more financially in this game so i don't see why not. I just hope this topic won't be ignored just like the ones regarding the crossplay.

From NA to EU or EU to NA on the same platform, my impression is that this is a technical issue. Copy the records and deal with any name changes that are required. Manual or automated, which ever way they like best.

However, moving between platforms has all of the above, plus the issue with having to deal with the first party (XBox, Sony) and other interested parties (Steam, Epic, ZOS/Bethesda) and whether they want people moving off of their platform, and out of their Store, to another one. This is not a technical issue.

Honestly, I think this would be the first thing that would need to be possible before they even started to think about crossplay.

We know that the only currently-available server transfers are from a populated database to a completely empty one, like they did for the first console setup and for PTS every cycle. The devs have said several times that there is no tool that will do transfers from one server to another though. There are a lot of records to untangle to ensure it goes bug free, and a tool to do that would need to first be developed... and so far the devs have said they're uninterested in doing so.

Considering the amount of effort it would be, this would be a logical first step to look into if the eventual goal was merging the megaservers. That was any bugs could be hashed out when transferring one account at a time instead of millions at once. That would also solve the name problem, as then the incoming player would definitely be the one who loses any name challenges as they were not the first player with the name. They'd probably need to set it up that every character got a name change token on purchase that changed each character name into a random hash, and then after transfer the player got name change tokens for each character to rename them... but then had to follow the standard naming rules and would need to respect others on the server with the same names.

I would expect though that it would be a lot to do, since this does not seem like an easy process at all. I also expect there would be some legalese in there as well - moving between NA and EU on any server would probably not present issues, and transfers between XBox and PC may also be smooth based on the same parent company involved. But... we all know that Sony does not play nice with anyone, and I'm sure their lawyers would do everything in their power to block people from moving off of a Sony console (but would absolutely welcome people moving to PlayStation).

Wrong, I'm afraid. It's currently impossible to do technically, and may also be impossible contractually between the different providers. Even the PTS has to be wiped clean for one regional server's database to replace the other on it, characters can't be copied across to a server that is already populated.

There are many threads on this, all with the same conclusion.
