The Maniacal Jester Personality is Great, but...

... it's hard to pull off a certain look - specifically a black/silver color scheme - when every once in a while, the character pulls out and inspects this comically large golden-hilt dagger.

I think it's safe to say that people who use personalities want to pull off any number of potential outfits with any number of potential color schemes, and there are quite a few personalities that can't be used with certain aesthetics due to a random animation that plays while the character is idle. Some examples include the Assassin Blade of Woe fidgets, the Passion's Muse bright green flower summoning or occasional one-legged balance, and Worm Wizard's occasional blue magic tricks.

These animations shut out some potential character styles, such as...

1. A laid back, lover-not-a-fighter type of charming rogue using the Assassin personality's lean animations would look out of character when he suddenly whips out a weapon and inspects it.
2. Passion's Muse complements the Thief personality, with a more relaxed (but still keeping an eye out) version of Thief's "idle2", but suddenly, flashy flower trick or spontaneous flamingo.
3. As Divayth Fyr says, "sorcery is not necromancy". Not all creepy sorcerers use necromancy. Personally, it would throw off an Emperor Palpatine Sorcerer character I want to make.

Ideally, these random animations should be removed from the character's idle stance and be relegated to standalone emotes; most of them are already their own emotes and just require removal from the idle stance.

---

Side note: Maniacal Jester didn't actually pull out the giant knife prior to the release of Update 40, so I'm not sure why that changed.

My problem with the personality is that on my preferred platform, Xbox NA, it stops working entirely.

After about 10m of playtime, your character just defaults back to the original standing pose every time you stop moving, completely destroying the purpose of having a personality.

I tried to make a bug report about it last time it came out and got completely ignored.

Kind of sad when an Apex Personslity isn’t working.

Yes noticed this too, happens on PS as well.

Stands like an arrogant donkey's rear end like I want him to some of the time; but goes into "normal vanilla default" often.

For a quick bandaid solution I slot the personality to reapply when I notice. Not ideal since slot space is precious, but gets the job done for now.

The animations need to be kept but the ability to change the color should be added with a variety of presets if it is appropriate to do so lore wise. Also anything in game that can optionally be appropriately color changed should have the option.

Animations that uses a weapon of any sort should really use the weapon you have equipped. I also loathe when these often repeating and "big" animations gets added to a personality's idle animation. To me they should be one of the emotes you have to do.

I thought Assassin personality would be the only personality for a while that I find annoying in its idle animations, because I seriously hate the fact your character just pulls out The Blade of Woe and starts brandishing it constantly. Any Elder Scrolls lore nerd would know that The Blade of Woe is the dagger that all assassins of The Dark Brotherhood carry with them at all times.

Might as well have a big neon sign above your head that says "I'M GONNA SLIT YOUR THROAT!" .

But nope, we got more personalities that while good, still have annoying quirks about them. Especially annoying if you're a roleplayer. Just why can't the brandishes be emotes instead of being part of the idle animation?

I use the personality on tiny flat chested wood elf arcanist char and it makes her delightfully repulsive. Definitely could do without the idle knife thing. I do not think animation would be any better with (gloambound) staff she wields.

The animations need to be kept...
No, they really don't. Even if the color could be changed, I don't want my character to pull a jester-themed knife out of... I don't want to know, and ogle it for a few seconds.

Ideally, the current idle animation cycles should be relegated to one of the idle emotes such as /idle4 or /idle5.

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's related to the crown store.

    Thank you for your understanding
