Bagpipe emote is the worst!

As a Brit I've always loved the bagpipes!

Last year at the Queen's funeral the most emotional moment was the Piper playing as he slowly left the cathedral, music fading as he went.

I'm sorry but the new emote will ruin that memory if I hear it too much, I will avoid it wherever possible, it sounds awful. 😕

@ZOS_GinaBruno As a RL bagpiper I was excited to see the /bagpipe emote available to with my seals of endeavor currency. However, the sound is the absolute worst! I realize it is made from a Netch's stomach but the groaning and choice of tune needs a serious rework. When my toon fires them up there is nothing but an overwhelming feeling of nausea that fills the room. Bagpipe tunes should get the blood boiling and inspire or evoke a strong memory or emotion. These are an abhorration.
As also an RL player, I actually connected with the sound. That said, it's not the sound of an accomplished player. It's basically the sound of a player picking up the instrument for the very first time or someone so stricken by grief they're unable to play a coherent tune. I can listen to it from a distance. Once I get close, or I play it myself, it actually annoys me too. What I like, however is because it more or less sticks to a single note, it doesn't clash when multiple people play. That is more than can be said for every other melody instrument in ESO. I've long wished players could play together other than adding drums and dancing.

Music instruments coordinating to play together was my favorite part of sea of thieves. I've often wished that we had a similar system in this game.

@Soraka I'm not familiar with SoT but if you're looking for the ability to play music as an ensemble I don't think you can do much better than LOTRO.

Haven't heard this one yet but is it as bad as the trumpet solo?

Yes. It's part of the "PvP trolling" emotes just like trumpet solo.

I don't think it sounds much like the pipes either. My husband is a piper and he practices in the house every day... B)

I don't maybe some form of pibroch... But it's really not even that tuneful.

I guess I'm one of the odd ones. The Netch Bagpipes are relaxing and pleasant to listen to. They don't have those sounds in them that are jarring and they put me to sleep.

I agree that is sounds bad, but almost fitting for the type of bagpipe it is? Or perhaps it should include a /bagpipe_bad and /bagpipe_good sound?

The only thing about the bagpipe emote that made me discomfortable, was the part where the instrument is supposed to be used with the mouth, is not even connected to the mouth of the character. In fact the character is not even making a blowing emote, it is as if the instrument only needs fingers to be used, and the mouth-blowing part is just there for the sake of decoration.

That is annoying in ESO, even if you have good sounding instruments like /qanun it sounds horrible if two are playing at once.

Now /trumpetsolo should enable you for general PvP after 1 minute.
Most would disagree, arguing that this is far to long

Can someone tell me if the mudballs disrupt the person playing the horrible bagpipes? I'll gladly pay the 100k on xbox for that runebox just to stop people playing that horrible noise.

Bagpipes ARE very polarizing. I happen to love them to bits and pieces; I go out of my way to find parades and events with pipers (can do without the drums though). I'm the only person I know (including family) who loves them though. It's really strange - there are high schools and colleges here with pipe and drum corps, and after every parade, event, game, whatever - the online papers have all kinds of "boo-hiss" posts about the "screeching of the bagpipes".

I love bagpipes in almost all forms. If played by someone with skill they sound absolutely amazing.

I'm not a huge fan of the emote we got, but at least it's less annoying than the trumpet solo.

It's harsh for the first few seconds of the tune; then the last 3-4 seconds before it repeats is bliss for me.
Throw in some fungal/shroom drum to accompany and it's euphoric.

I was more puzzled why the netch bagpipe was added in the first place. I can't recall they have ever been mentioned in lore before, and why were they added as a dunmer instrument? There are dunmer instruments seen and talked about, but we didn't get those. There's a lot of other instruments mentioned but we didn't get them, instead they add this random thing which like the trumpet solo feels more like some meme or trolling tool.
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!
