Bagpipe emote is the worst!

@ZOS_GinaBruno As a RL bagpiper I was excited to see the /bagpipe emote available to purchase with my seals of endeavor currency. However, the sound is the absolute worst! I realize it is made from a Netch's stomach but the groaning and choice of tune needs a serious rework. When my toon fires them up there is nothing but an overwhelming feeling of nausea that fills the room. Bagpipe tunes should get the blood boiling and inspire or evoke a strong memory or emotion. These are an abhorration.

As also an RL player, I actually connected with the sound. That said, it's not the sound of an accomplished player. It's basically the sound of a player picking up the instrument for the very first time or someone so stricken by grief they're unable to play a coherent tune. I can listen to it from a distance. Once I get close, or I play it myself, it actually annoys me too. What I like, however is because it more or less sticks to a single note, it doesn't clash when multiple people play. That is more than can be said for every other melody instrument in ESO. I've long wished players could play together other than adding drums and dancing.

@fred4 The best bagpipe I've experienced in a MMO is LOTRO without a doubt. You can easily import music files and there are a large # of traditional pipe tunes and more modern songs available. A lot of fun if you enjoy having a musician in a MMO!

The emote sounds fine to me. Quite an atmospheric tone, and not so loud. Nothing like RL Scottish bagpipes thank goodness.

I actually purchased this with seals a couple of days ago just to have another instrument to play while waiting for bosses to spawn. It's way better than the trumpet solo.

The blowpipe is about 3 inches away from the mouth of my small wood elf character and the tune isn't that impressing, but hey, at least it's a bagpipe emote, love it

Would pay a fortune if I could play my own tunes, like for example LotRO let you do it. Load some .ABC files and you're good to go.

It doesn't sound like Scottish bagpipes nor Irish uilleann pipes. Maybe like what's called a "flat set" in Ireland, but more likely a Northumberland or Bulgarian set. Bagpipes were historically found in many countries. The smaller and narrower variations produce the humming sound of ESO's pipes.

I would feel nauseous if I spent my Seals on something that made me feel that way. Was there not a preview option?

Bagpipes ARE very polarizing. I happen to love them to bits and pieces; I go out of my way to find parades and events with pipers (can do without the drums though). I'm the only person I know (including family) who loves them though. It's really strange - there are high schools and colleges here with pipe and drum corps, and after every parade, event, game, whatever - the online papers have all kinds of "boo-hiss" posts about the "screeching of the bagpipes".

I actually enjoy them exactly because they sound discordant. I find them quite humorous. I don't own them, but I love how they trump the infamous esraj as king of annoying instruments to play while waiting at a world boss (and that's coming from someone who genuinely adores the esraj)

I’m neither here nor there on the bagpipe, though it does put me in mind of an umbilical brothers skit from many years ago.

I bought it with crown gems because it was so terrible.... but that's just me, haha. I also think it makes sense for some netch bagpipes to sound horrid, but it would be pretty cool if they'd release a legitimate bagpipe emote that sounds good too.

I checked the preview. It's far from as bad as trumpet solo but it's definitely not good. I'll wait for Esraj which I actually like.

I actually really love the comically bad music instruments like the bagpipe and the trumpet. I'm still waiting to get my hands on that frog instrument from Murkmire.

Next instrument should be a banjo!

I heard the emote last night. It's nothing like a bagpipe. Disappointing. A good /bagpipe emote would be amazing. Would be even better if we could get one that let us walk while doing it.
