Personal opinion, any new weapon skills would be redundant other than visuals. Ranged you throw or launch projectiles and melee you jab, bash or slash. Bash and slash really other than what the weapon looks like it the same thing.

That's like saying new class skills are redundant.
There's many possibilities to create cool effective skills.
And my selfish side wants it to benefit PvP the most.

If they add a new weapon that means going back and adding a new motif chapter for all 100+ of the current styles, messing up the collections and achievements associated with it. Might seem like a stupid reason to some, but I guarantee that's why ZOS will never do it.

Considering all classes can use a weapon, this is the best way to create new builds for anybody to use
New weapon skill lines must be the most asked for thing currently.
As someone who has always greatly preferred stamina builds, I feel Stamina diversity is in need of a boost.
I'll pay! Just make it happen.

They could make an orb or book as an offhand weapon, which combined with a 1 handed weapon would allow you to use the spellsword skill line. This item would either be invisible (your character would just be holding some kind of elemental energy) or attached to your belt, in which case there could be a few types of book covers to choose from, but there'd be no need for one for every single motif.

If they were to create a new ''weapon'' it would be, by logic, a magic weapon... or both like ''One hand and magic'' using stamina or magicka like the arcanist's skill system, costs the largest resource!

The above was stated explicily by devs during a chapter stream sometime in the last 24 months. I cant remember the event but i remember the question and answer.
Agree this is the main benefit or one hand an rune or book.prof-dracko wrote: »They won't for one simple reason: motifs.

weapons/skill lines I want
1. fist weapons
2. bō staff -melee staff fighting skill line (actually whacking enemies using various staff fighting forms and techniques)
3. kahjiits and lizards should use their long sharp claws and get a specialized unarmed skill line (that makes them fight similar to a tiger by swatting their paws mauling the enemy)
4. unarmed skill line that has a series of martial arts movements (no weapons required)
5. thrown weapons such as small knives and shuriken.
6. dual wield mini crossbows
7. spear/pole arms
8. giant war hammer ( skill line will include a ability that has a heavy hit to enemy knocking them back several miles and stunning them)
9. gadgets, inventions, turrets, gizmos, and other robotic stuff (engineered weapons)

All great ideas! Especially guardian staff and ice staff going back towards just damage and CC!
A like "Alteration Staff" because of skyrim, have soo much protective spells on the school!
