We need new weapons

Like the title says...we need new weapons with associated skill lines.

Considering all classes can use a weapon, this is the best way to create new builds for anybody to use

New weapon skill lines must be the most asked for thing currently.

As someone who has always greatly preferred stamina builds, I feel Stamina diversity is in need of a boost.

I'll pay! Just make it happen.

Have only 2 skill lines for ''magicka'' user!
    Destruction Staff
    Restoration Staff
And 3 (excluding one for tanks) for ''stamina'' users
    Bow
    Dual Wield
    Two Handed

If they were to create a new ''weapon'' it would be, by logic, a magic weapon... or both like ''One hand and magic'' using stamina or magicka like the arcanist's skill system, costs the largest resource!

Personal opinion, any new weapon skills would be redundant other than visuals. Ranged you throw or launch projectiles and melee you jab, bash or slash. Bash and slash really other than what the weapon looks like it the same thing.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

That's like saying new class skills are redundant.

There's many possibilities to create cool effective skills.
And my selfish side wants it to benefit PvP the most.

For the most part other than cosmetics new class skills are redundant. Fatecarver is basically Radiant Destruction but can target more than one. Sure there can be little differences one can stun, one can fear and stuff like that.

I honestly wished for all skill lines being somewhat equal...
for example even after the Dagger nerf in Dual-wield the top dps can still be achieved through double-daggers.
I really would love if two-handed receives more love.
Bows feel really good already but it is just the dps numbers that are lacking, the skills are fine but they lack the dps.

They won't for one simple reason: motifs.
If they add a new weapon that means going back and adding a new motif chapter for all 100+ of the current styles, messing up the collections and achievements associated with it. Might seem like a stupid reason to some, but I guarantee that's why ZOS will never do it.

They could make an orb or book as an offhand weapon, which combined with a 1 handed weapon would allow you to use the spellsword skill line. This item would either be invisible (your character would just be holding some kind of elemental energy) or attached to your belt, in which case there could be a few types of book covers to choose from, but there'd be no need for one for every single motif.

Yeah, this have been asked for years. Would be cool to see one in future. Game has been out for almost 10 years and not a single new weapon has been added yet, which is kinda strange. We are talking about MMO after all.

i feel like it would be a little difficult to introduce a new weapon entirely to the game rather than just updating current weapons' skill lines as there could be an unthinkable amount of things that current weapons interact with in the game..

so a one handed or possibly unarmed skill line could be possible

i agree with this.. orbs and books could all or mostly the same and count as a sort of off-hand or main hand only 1h weapon..

and orb is an orb you dont need motif for it same with books but im sure they would add a couple of unique or purchaseable motifs for them no biggie

I just want a one handed style. Unarmed would also be easy to implement.

Duelists/Swashbucklers and Monks need love too.

    1. The argument that new weapons would be redundant is pretty silly honestly. New weapons add cool new animations, skills and cosmetics into the game. I’m all for it.

    2. I forget where it was stated, but one of the largest complications of why new weapons (polearms, crossbows for instance) have not been created is this idea that they’d have to backtrack and add them to the old motifs. That’s completely unnecessary in my mind. I’d love for them to start fresh next year with the new motif in the chapter and add them then. They absolutely do not need to backtrack.

    3. If they were added, what would be easiest to add? Unarmed for one would be laughably easy and will likely come with a (maybe?) monk class? There’s already lots of move sets in the game for monks like the final boss in BDV for I stance. Could be a blast! I think polearms/spears and crossbows would be the next most likely along with maybe wands or something for magicka users.

    4. I see a lot of people ask for 1H & rune. I bet that would be pretty difficult but if rumors are true based on this expansion and we go to Winterhold next year, that would be the perfect time to introduce something like 1H & rune and the spellcrafting world skill line! But who knows? I’m expecting and praying for something big next year being that it’s the 10 year anniversary! I could see 1H & rune coming with the chapter and spellcrafting in Q4 as a big system update? We shall see!

Stams had to use stam weapons while magicka users had tons of class skills. Now it has changed with hybridisation. Now moew mag weapons are justified.

The above was stated explicily by devs during a chapter stream sometime in the last 24 months. I cant remember the event but i remember the question and answer.

This is silly though, why not just start fresh and add them moving forward? I don’t think any of us would mind that at the expense of not having the new weapons at all? Plus, they could add them over time if they really wanted to. Doesn’t have to all be done at once. Seems like lazy reasoning

Agree this is the main benefit or one hand an rune or book.
Other weapons like spears will have the motif issue.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Been playing ESO since pre-launch back in 2014. Bow has never been a good DPS weapon. I normally love playing with a bow in most games that have them, but the ESO bow is just not very good. The Destro staff is the only truly good ranged weapon in this game. So instead of a new weapon, I would like to see the bow improved dramatically so that we have one excellent magicka ranged weapon and one excellent stamina ranged weapon.

-Crossbow: uses bow skill line, accuracy passive gives bonus crit damage or penetration, can store a fully charged heavy attack for later, actually can't light attack

-Guardian staff: Inherits tank passives of ice staff, new skill line based on alteration magic (self cast buffs), heavy attacks that target self and restore mag

-Reworked icestaff: damage bonuses against cc'd targets, fully charged heavy attacks apply long duration minor brittle

-Manacles: Offhand equipment that makes melee heavy attacks restore magicka, own skill line that resembles a combination of destro staff and two handed, emphasis on burst damage, a universal magicka source of self cast Msorc/brut

    weapons/skill lines I want

    1. fist weapons
    2. bō staff -melee staff fighting skill line (actually whacking enemies using various staff fighting forms and techniques)
    3. kahjiits and lizards should use their long sharp claws and get a specialized unarmed skill line (that makes them fight similar to a tiger by swatting their paws mauling the enemy)
    4. unarmed skill line that has a series of martial arts movements (no weapons required)
    5. thrown weapons such as small knives and shuriken.
    6. dual wield mini crossbows
    7. spear/pole arms
    8. giant war hammer ( skill line will include a ability that has a heavy hit to enemy knocking them back several miles and stunning them)
    9. gadgets, inventions, turrets, gizmos, and other robotic stuff (engineered weapons)
