Is it time to create a few Sub-Forums?

OK I realise I'm probably going to get a bit of flack for this (nobody likes change / why fix if it's not broken etc) but I'm just interested to see if there is a consensus of opinion here.

Is it time we asked for the creation of Sub-Forums for each of the Platforms? PC / PS / Xbox?

The reason I ask, is that whenever I go to read recent Posts - I sometimes see something of 'interest' only to later find out it's a PC Add-on and not much use to Console players (of which I am one). I realise that there will be posts that relate to all platforms and these would still be posted in this 'general' forum' but perhaps specific posts could be made in the relevant sub-forum?

I appreicate this would probably mean a bit more work for the Moderators - those that run the forums, but would it be that much of an overhead?

Interested to hear what others think.

I'm not sure how you missed it, but there's already a lot of sub forums, including one for addons.

The problem is some people insist on posting everything in general discussion and complain if topics are moved anywhere else. That's not likely to change if they add ones for different platforms.

I get what you're saying - and I did know about the other sub-forums. I guess people are posting in General 'by default' as you say - and there is no way to make them do otherwise, other than for the mods to keep moving the posts to the relevant sub-forums (which I'm sure they don't have time to do).

Even so, personally - I do think it would be worth doing (having Platform specific Sub-Forums).

There's a very long thread about why people don't what sub forums and why people get annoyed a lot of the time that posts get moved there.

From my own perspective, using these forums on mobile, navigating through subforums is an atrocious experience (and, indeed, you often forget they exist) and messages that end up there, for the most part, die there. Unless they significantly improved the forum UI, this probably would result in poor engagement.

Nah. The forums are fine just the way they are.

I can navigate these forums a 1000 times more better than social media. The forums are very organized and clean. I really like how the forums are set up. I view all the categories on a daily bases. I can easily find what I'm looking for. And I love all the formatting options when creating a new post. Also I can pick and choose which category it best fits in. These forums are satisfying for me.

Post don't die when they get moved, but, instead a post only dies when its deleted. It's will still be there and always will be. If a category is less popular and it got moved there, there will always be other people reading your post (even when it doesn't get the usual high amounts of likes or comments).

Also I've seen other online gaming forums before that have way more categories than the elderscrolls ones (gw2 forums for example). I don't have a problem with it.

I'm thankful for online forums.

If by "create" you actually mean "delete", then yes. Otherwise absolutely not. There are way too many subforums already.

Yes, it is time to create more subforums.
But only if they delete two other ones for every new one.

I'd create about 10 new subforums, as a start.

Maybe Put some Icon or something to show what platform you play on.That way you can know better how to help troubleshoot,seeing ppl suggest addons for people to help only to hours later they say they on one of the consoles and not pc.

As a console player I reckon console specific forums for combat/ tales of tribute etc would be pretty dead. Maybe if people had a symbol or text with their avatar to show the platforms they play on it may help to understand where their comment is coming from

I think that's a better solution than creating subforums. There are also many topics that are not system-specific and having them put into a subforum would mean less participants and missed information. Unless there would be another subforum for these things, but I don't think it makes much sense to split everything into dozens of forums. Many people only view "general discussion" anyway.

We can already do that ourselves in the signature space provided to each forum user. Many of us add our platforms and clears/titles.

Can also add it to your profile. But yeah, I think if anything some categories could be condensed.

If you post enough in General you will eventually find out about the other subs when a mod moves your thread into "a more appropriate place"

Not an optimal idea. These devs don't actually pay much attention to "ideas from the community". Sometimes things are added that players have posted about - but it's never with any acknowledgement that any player(s) ideas were the impetus. Mostly, these devs have a vision for this game. Which vision does NOT include accepting "ideas from the community" as anything likely to be implemented.
