order's wrath might be better to pair with runecarver
bonus is that since runecarver is a light set and order's wrath is crafted you can focus on what armor passives you want (medium vs light, medium grants more damage but light grants more pen, up to a point). using sets like war maiden or soulshine take away this choice and lock you into light-only sets, which is probably ok for dungeons but for the biggest damage in overland content you'll likely want sources of breach + medium armor

I'll just say you really don't need light armor for Arcanist due to its passives. I'm using light armor at the moment and having 12k penetration is silly.

War Maiden can be considered A-tier for the Magicka Arcanist. Order's Wrath and Deadly Strike are S-tier for both Magicka and Stamina Arcanist. If you ever want to switch, you should avoid War Maiden.
Pillar is always great, whatever you play. But it is a dungeon set, instead of craftable, overland or purchasable at Guild Traders. Depending on your access it may be best to just do Deadly and Order's Wrath.

that style will be available to be earned in game after its featured in the crown store this month (or if you really really really wanted it you could buy it from the crown store, but i would recommend against buying anything from the store thats earnable in game)

Lol good sir or madam, I am a whale. I'll buy anything just cause. Heck I bought the dead keeper motif cause I didn't wanna farm it.
I work all day and have a farm and family. I don't have time to farm literally anything in this game.

runecarver requires many dots going at once (since it procs on every 3rd tick of every dot you have going, obviously faster dots will get more ticks and show more dps)
i am using it on a magdk setup with like 8 of my 10 skills being dots and i can still manage pretty decent dps from runecarver
the only way i could see it working on arcanist is if you put a lot of dots on the target before you started beaming, it should tick from the beam itself too, but if your only really using the beam itself, runecarver will be sub par compared to some of the other sets listed

Yeah, that's the question, isn't it? Fatecarver is a channel, not a DoT. So Runecarver shouldn't proc from it. Am I wrong?
Irrelevant of that it is a bad idea to overload your Arcanist with DoTs. At some point more DoTs will take away DPS, instead of adding it, because it has a detrimental effect on the uptime Fatecarver.
And that is something you definitely not want.
And so, whatever Runecarver can theoretically brings to the table, it is never enough to compensate the downtime of Fatecarver.
