just go out and farm mats, its not too hard
i pretty much never buy mats, but i sell tons of them because people are willing to pay insane prices for easy to get mats
i mean come on, scrib jelly selling for 1400 gold each? why you can get like 6-12 doing 1 run through almost any kwama infested delve which takes 5 minutes
heck even IC key frags going for 600g each feels insane to me, takes me like an hour to get around 100+ of them
i dont do daily writs, and i dont usually specifically farm mats, and i still have like 15k+ of each ruby crafting mat just from refining/deconning

I get what you're saying, but some of us need access to large amounts of crafting materials because of the cost of playing through some of the game's content. I routinely rip through stacks and stacks of potions and high end raid foods/drinks while doing trials. It becomes prohibitively expensive to maintain, and we have to participate in paid content carries just to make enough gold to afford it. I hate doing carries and would love a way to be more self sufficient and continue to play the parts of the game that I love.
Agreed, and allowing players to grow their own plants would have a major effect on the crafting economy, so any change would have to be designed very carefully, or it might just break that economy.alternatelder wrote: »Do your writs, farm your rewarded surveys. You don't have to buy from people. If you'd been doing them for years, you'd have thousands of each resource like myself and many others.

Lets give housing a meaningful addition.
The "harvesting at home" has to have limitations, though. It would be exploitable if there weren't.
As much as I love the idea, I do not see how this is going to decrease prices on mats. It would just make a player more independent of the market. Or having to farm them oneself. I would love to be wrong, but I am sceptic in his regard.
