I Think It's Time For a New Community Event for 2023, Here's Why

Basically the title. Since ESO is coming to Epic Games, and it will become free to own in the first week, it's time to start a grand Community Event considering all the new waves of players coming to play ESO. But this time, consider giving another giant mansion like the one in Artaeum among other big prizes!

We already know there's an incredible chance that there'll be one coming since there's one every year around September.

Now it hasn't been tested on PTS yet, but there is a house currently in testing on PTS (Kelesan'ruhn) that says it'll "be available by participating in a future Event." Logic dictates that we will therefore have our normal Chapter community event around the end of September, and the 100% engagement reward will likely be that house.

All events are tested on PTS though, so we'll find out in the next few weeks if there is one in planning. Considering the timeframes, I'd expect that next week's event they're testing would be the Necrom one.

    No, I don't think so
I have no desire to participate in community events for all online games.

I'm not really social enough for very large groups or ( large teeming mob of players in one area) in the game.

If they don't invite me into the community event while I'm doing my own thing in the game, I'll be ok. If they do invite me into the community event, I will go into another zone.

I really prefer forums, small sized guild, dungeon sized groups 🙂.

I'm mostly a solo player who likes doing my own things in the game such as exploring, once in a while quest, dungeons, battlegrounds, and finding in-game bugs.

@wilykcat it's not something like that in ESO. The in-game community events are actually community goals here. Where you do some simple things mostly as solo and there's a global counter where it calculates how many times people did it so the rewards will unlock for everyone in the game at the end if we succeed to hit those goals as a community.

As @Goratesque said, none of the events like these involve grouping. You just log in, do something solo, and it counts towards the community goal. Easy peezy.

I can't remember what the one for the Summerset mansion was. Some similar activity. They build the hype around the community participation count rising, but it is a guaranteed success regardless. No stress, a bit of fun and excitement, and you get a massive house for free at the end of it.

I mis-clicked on the poll. I am for it.

Yes, it's been a long time since the last one
The Summerset one was run around to all the Points of Interest in Summerset and Artaeum, on both megaservers whichever platform. IIRC, you could do that one on multiple characters.

    No, I don't think so
I thought this was talking about something different that involves massive large groups of players doing something as a community event or for charity, organization, or something in the game. That happens once a month or twice a year. Community ran events like ones in world of warcraft and guild wars 2 that are advertised on social media 🙄 and are also live streamed that desperately want every player involved.

Sorry, I often misread or don't quite understand stuff (reading comprehension related issue).

I think it's talking about one thing instead it's really talking about something else. I'm not really sure 😕. I tried my best to respond to this.

every year there's an event for the new chapter
for summerset it was i think Summerfall and it gave the Grand Psijic Villa as a reward if you had bought Summerset.
the Greymoor event gave the Antiquarian Lodge.
these events have been in august/September and usually just involve discovering all the striking locales or killing world bosses.

though the new chapter gets pretty busy usually due to the double rewards from daily quests you don't have to do anything with the community.

these are some of those events

    There will be one.
The house on Telvanni Peninsula currently on the PTS (Kelesan'ruhn) will be one of the rewards.

Gina said so in the Twitch stream on Monday (the 10th).

She didn't give any specifics on the event; she just mentioned the house as being a part of an upcoming community event.

Edit: Corrected the day that the stream occurred.

A mix of Necrom and Telvanni.
(think Tel Galen, but on a much smaller scale, with Necrom light fixtures.)

With the courtyard, I'd call it a medium-sized house, overall. The house itself has three not-huge rooms.
It's definitely not "Notable" size, like Tel Galen, or the Psijic Villa, so much easier to furnish and not have it half-empty with all the furnishing slots filled.

      EDIT:

Kelesan'ruhn is also mentioned in the PTS Patch Notes for 9.1.0

      Kelesan'ruhn
      • Designed by a mycoturge for a now-missing arcanist, this Telvanni-style residence showcases gorgeous views. Both magical and mundane access to a sizable workshop and a cozy living space allow for uninterrupted research and rejuvenating rest, respectively.
      • This Home will be available by participating in a future Event. Find the Collectible for it in the All Deeds Envelope, inside The Homeowner's Crate on the PTS template!

One catch to all of that: in order to receive the rewards, you'll need to have the Chapter unlocked on your account.
But that can occur any time while the event is active.

You can also choose not to actively participate (do whatever task is asked of us); as long as you have the Chapter on your account, you'll still receive the rewards.

As other people have said they'll almost certainly have a community event in September like they usually do.

I think it could actually be better for new players (genuinely new players, not existing players making additional accounts) to leave some space between them getting the game and a big event starting so they can get used to the game first.

Also the free version is almost certainly going to be just the base game + Morrowind. Giving that out for free then immediately announcing a community event to welcome the new joiners which, oh yeah, you have to buy an expansion to play, could come across a bit like ZOS trying to trick them into paying for the 'free' game. Different process but a similar effect on players to those "free" to play games where once you've started you discover you have to keep on paying out to actually be able to play it.

I guess this is a Dunmer -looking house? I don't have access to PTS....

Find the Collectible for it in the All Deeds Envelope, inside The Homeowner's Crate on the PTS template!

it's Large house in the Classic category

so 600/300 slots depending on if you have eso plus

          Thanks for the clarification.
I didn't take the time to look that closely at the specs when I was there yesterday morning, and I wouldn't have guessed it was a 600 slot house.

I might get attacked for saying this, but for an MMO, it’s really lacking in guild activities, maybe an event that focuses on grouping together, similar to the Zenithar one.

you can group up during every event to do daily quests together for world bosses and incursions like dragons
or kill horrors in imperial city during mayhem

            Agreed.

Maybe it's because of the MMOs I've played but it always confuses me a bit when people say they need activities for guilds because I've always thought of guilds as a way of organising groups for any of the activities in the game. I'm in 3 guilds and one is specifically for organising dungeon groups (but sometimes does trials as well) and the other two have a regular schedule of events covering all types of activities and are used as a way to put together ad hoc groups.

To me having activities specifically for guilds seems redundant, almost like saying we need additional dungeons that can only be accessed through the group finder.

You'd think it's like that. But ESO doesn't go that in depth

If you look at BDO, there’s an entire system of map control you can do with your guild and have guild vs guild fights.

We have nothing like that, or anything close to guild competition outside of traders and not everyone gets to be involved in bid wars.

I think a free large house would be great! It's been a while since Doomchar Plateau, and the new players should have a chance to get a free large house. Separately, Doomchar Plateau makes a great storage place for all my unused furnishings! I have everything spread out like a discount furniture warehouse.
