Arcanist Class Missing from PTS Crown Store

Accounts that haven't yet purchased Necrom in PC-NA are able to teleport into the Telvanni Peninsula in the PTS, but we're unable to purchase the Arcanist class for testing.

The Arcanist shouldn't be hitting the Crown Store until... next June. So, PTS next March, maybe? If you're able to port to the Telvannin Peninsula on PTS, that's probably a bug, and you should report it.

Here I am in Necrom in the PTS.

Here I am unable to create an Arcanist in the PTS, along with the notice that I should be able to purchase it in the Crown Store.

And here's the Crown Store in the PTS without the Arcanist class available for purchase.

That's why I posted it here. The test server should have everything available, independent of what's been purchased in the live server.

From the last patch prior to necrom they actually limited it to those that had bought necrom, so there is a bug that you can access the peninsula at all

@ZOS_Kevin is it intended that all PTS testers don’t have access to Arcanist, even though we have access to the rest of the chapter content?

The class isn’t available on either, it gives you the prompt to purchase Necrom if you don’t own it.

It says; “Requires Class Arcanist (Upgrade).

Then tells you the collectible is available for purchase in the crown store, and currently it isn’t.

    That’s also with a Template.

Arcanist was available for the first two weeks of PTS for broad testing, then ZOS removed Arcanist and Telvanni Peninsula access for all players who had not purchased Necrom. This was mentioned in the PTS patch notes. It is by design that Necrom is not available on PTS for players who did not purchase it. By the 3rd week of PTS, ZOS wanted PTS to accurately mimic what Live would be like at launch. It was considered an important part of testing that non-paying players would indeed be denied access to Arcanist and Necrom on Live, after non-paying players used a bug/exploit to create Necromancers on Live back in 2019.

Maybe ZOS intended to remove that restriction after final round of PTS? But they purposefully removed Arcanist and Necrom from PTS for non-paying customers during 3rd week of PTS.

What TaSheen didn’t say, was that by restricting an already small number of people from testing a whole class, you’re increasing the chance for oversight.

I have the Arcanist and Necrom paid for twice on my Xbox for NA and EU, I’m not going to pay for it again on a PC I don’t own. But I could at least provide meaningful testing if it was available on PTS, as the server generously grants everything else for one crown each, starting with 5500, including Necromancer and Warden, and every chapter and DLC.

Technically on PC, the class was available without purchasing for the first two weeks of Necrom PTS.

I don't really agree with the change either of restricting people if they haven't bought the chapter. What's the worse they can do on an empty server filled with cheat codes, with characters they have no attachment to that also gets wiped?

The DLC classes usually don't end up in the Crown Store for one year, so it's likely that if you don't have Necrom on your account, you won't be able to make an Arcanist until the PTS for update 42.

ZOS has made it clear that the PTS is a server to test upcoming things and give feedback, not a "try before you buy" server. As Arcanist has already released, the class is not the target of this round of testing.

What are you talking about? They changed a few things on Arcanist week 1 and multiple things that effect Arcanist gameplay, like every weapon skill line.

I’ve already bought Necrom, and the class on a different platform, want to see my purchase history?

If not, stop assuming people want to joy ride the class when in all reality people want to test the new changes and be sure none of these changes are having weird side effects.

You know, something that benefits everyone.

I'm not trying to make assumptions about your status. I'm simply stating that's how it works.

I would never expect that if I bought ESO on XBox that I'd magically have access to all DLC and Chapter content that I have on PC. I don't even expect that I'd get my Crown-purchased cosmetics to transfer over to the EU server, because that's how it works. And as such, people who have bought DLC on console really can't expect that they'd have it on PC... and the PTS is inherently a PC server.

Since High Isle, the PTS has kept Chapters gated off for people who bought the Chapter specifically because of the actions of some players who exploited during the Elsweyr and Greymoor days to gain access to the Chapter content (Necromancer and Antiquities respectively) without buying it. It may be exclusionary, but that's another way the PTS is testing these things (by testing that they don't accidentally release things to people who are not supposed to have it).

Fortunately, there are PC players who are testing these things. However, we've also seen that PTS testing has been falling off because a lot of players are feeling like their feedback matters less and less and there has been less communication as time goes on. While it's good that more people want to test and give feedback, it's still going to be subject to these constraints. Hopefully they will eventually add Arcanist to the PTS as a built-in for the purposes of testing, but I can understand if they'd want to wait for the new car smell to wear off first.

And yes, there are some people who are looking at PTS as a joy ride. You may not be, but there are people who do. There are several loopholes that ZOS has closed (see the current Crown Crate gifting issue) that were targeted specifically because of bad actors. Is everyone a bad actor? No. But do they exist? Unfortunately, yes.

Are you being ignorant on purpose or are you really that dense not to understand that we bought the chapter already on consoles and "testing it out on PTS" shouldn't require us to buy it again? No one's asking we get chapter in every platform's live server. No one. Stop putting words in their mouth. We simply ask that the class should be made available so we can see the changes made to it and give feedback as we already play them on live servers.

Also no one's going for "a joy ride" with that much ping and characters about to be deleted forever in 2 weeks. If ZOS has problems with cheaters, you clean up your code and secure your game, not punish whole console player base who don't want to shell out $40 to try out PTS for a couple of weeks.

It’s fine, PTS is nearly over and an extreme minority of players were able to test the Arcanist.

I’m sure that QA, the same team that didn’t catch the block bug, were able to catch all Arcanist related bugs without our help.

Thanks for not following up after jumping in the conversation, @ZOS_GinaBruno.
