Arcanist was available for the first two weeks of PTS for broad testing, then ZOS removed Arcanist and Telvanni Peninsula access for all players who had not purchased Necrom. This was mentioned in the PTS patch notes. It is by design that Necrom is not available on PTS for players who did not purchase it. By the 3rd week of PTS, ZOS wanted PTS to accurately mimic what Live would be like at launch. It was considered an important part of testing that non-paying players would indeed be denied access to Arcanist and Necrom on Live, after non-paying players used a bug/exploit to create Necromancers on Live back in 2019.
Maybe ZOS intended to remove that restriction after final round of PTS? But they purposefully removed Arcanist and Necrom from PTS for non-paying customers during 3rd week of PTS.

Sure, meanwhile, I’m over here hanging out in Necrom unable to make an Arcanist.

Um.... that's not really a viable option. People want to see how stuff plays out with a new class before they opt in to buy....

but pts isn't a test before you buy server. even if some people clearly use it like that.

What TaSheen didn’t say, was that by restricting an already small number of people from testing a whole class, you’re increasing the chance for oversight.
I have the Arcanist and Necrom paid for twice on my Xbox for NA and EU, I’m not going to pay for it again on a PC I don’t own. But I could at least provide meaningful testing if it was available on PTS, as the server generously grants everything else for one crown each, starting with 5500, including Necromancer and Warden, and every chapter and DLC.

Have you tried creating a max template character (any class) and then afterwards see if you can now create an arcanist? It is possible that the first template toon 'unlocks' that

Exactly. This is the issue - IF they want feedback on every platform, forcing people to buy the chapter just to access the class etc on PTS..... is - um. Oksy I can't actually say what I want to, because I do NOT want my posting privileges removed.... again.
Oy. Just.... UGH.

ZOS has made it clear that the PTS is a server to test upcoming things and give feedback, not a "try before you buy" server. As Arcanist has already released, the class is not the target of this round of testing.

What are you talking about? They changed a few things on Arcanist week 1 and multiple things that effect Arcanist gameplay, like every weapon skill line.
I’ve already bought Necrom, and the class on a different platform, want to see my purchase history?
If not, stop assuming people want to joy ride the class when in all reality people want to test the new changes and be sure none of these changes are having weird side effects.
You know, something that benefits everyone.

Are you being ignorant on purpose or are you really that dense not to understand that we bought the chapter already on consoles and "testing it out on PTS" shouldn't require us to buy it again? No one's asking we get chapter in every platform's live server. No one. Stop putting words in their mouth. We simply ask that the class should be made available so we can see the changes made to it and give feedback as we already play them on live servers.tomofhyrule wrote: »
I would never expect that if I bought ESO on XBox that I'd magically have access to all DLC and Chapter content that I have on PC. I don't even expect that I'd get my Crown-purchased cosmetics to transfer over to the EU server, because that's how it works. And as such, people who have bought DLC on console really can't expect that they'd have it on PC... and the PTS is inherently a PC server.
Since High Isle, the PTS has kept Chapters gated off for people who bought the Chapter specifically because of the actions of some players who exploited during the Elsweyr and Greymoor days to gain access to the Chapter content (Necromancer and Antiquities respectively) without buying it. It may be exclusionary, but that's another way the PTS is testing these things (by testing that they don't accidentally release things to people who are not supposed to have it).

Also no one's going for "a joy ride" with that much ping and characters about to be deleted forever in 2 weeks. If ZOS has problems with cheaters, you clean up your code and secure your game, not punish whole console player base who don't want to shell out $40 to try out PTS for a couple of weeks.
