Game state offset?

Over the last two days, every time my main's in Vivec it's the volcanic ash cloud from the climax of the storyline. I don't seem to have the normal weather or background music anymore. Notably Baar Dau is still where it's supposed to be and isn't on fire, but everything else is a bit depressing.

It is only on this character, who finished the Vvardenfell storyline a while ago.

I'm hoping it's just a flag that got unset that'll fix itself with the maintenance tomorrow, but is anyone else getting this?

    ...is anyone else getting this?

Nope. I was just in Vvardenfell, excavating antiquities, and everything was normal for me.

Do you maybe have the bug I was reading about where lots of peoples quests/delves etc are showing as not completed, but the quests aren't there to repeat? I'm thinking maybe the sky doesn't know what to do with itself if you have completed and not completed the quests at the same time - Schrodingers quests?

I have the man in High Isle who is fighting off the Ember spell (the one that starts the Ember quest) once again asking to be rescued from "this stupid thing". Ember has been happily ensconced and out of mischief in one of my houses for months.

Now that would drive me barmy...I did the ember quest primarily to stop him!

Oh now this is even weirder...

I have uspf, and it's now saying I haven't gotten the skill points from like half the dungeons, when I most definitely have. I ended up in one of them for a rando today (that uspf says I'm missing), but of couse the quest wasn't available because I did it.

And now I'm also seeing that uspf is saying that I haven't completed all zone quests, which would explain why Vvardenfell is at the wrong world state right now.

I really hope that tomorrow's maintenance will fix this...

Sorry for double post, but with pictures this time:

      On PTS: odc0aqddl8sw.png
Note that he's actually got 460 skill points total, since I forgot to set the 'Morrowind Character' flag on him. Everything's right.

      On live: n4c7l00xishm.png
He does have 461 on live since I got one more PvP rank between the PTS copy and now, but uspf is only counting 417 of them as obtained. Notably some of them are in weird orders - like the Glenumbra line is giving credit for the last two quests in the chain but not the first two.

I'm wondering if there's a bug in my game's state that it thinks some quests aren't completed, and that's why I'm seeing Vvardenfell as it should be halfway through the line instead of finished like it is supposed to be. But since the quests are done, I can't redo them to fix it.

Again, I'm hoping the server on/off will fix this up, but has anyone has any experiences like this where the game just 'forgot' you did half the things?

EDIT: and now that I look, the Zone Guides are all kinds of borked as well. Missing quests, points of interest, etc...

      That starts the Ember quest?

I avoid all the NPCS that run up to you and stare you in the face. Trying to fish in Greenshade and this clown is literally nose to nose with my main. I pick up the quest to see if it sends me to do something ... which I could do at my leisure, but no. If you take the quest the NPC sticks right with you. Putting this type of interaction in a fishing area really stinks.

Ok, this is a bug that other people are seeing and have reported, but we haven't really heard much talk about this one yet: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/636606/quest-status-bug/p1

It seems that affected players did something in Cyrodiil right before it occurred, but as it was a PvP event... that was most players. It's essentially resetting about half of the world to a default 'uncompleted' state, but the quests aren't available to do again. This also means that some quest hubs are not showing the world in the right state (for example, the ghosts at Starved Plain are hostile again as if I never did the quest, but the NPC that dies during the quest is not present).

For most of the game it seems to be only visual (but highly disruptive, as I do miss having the nostalgic music in Vivec instead of a fiery hellscape with ominous apocalyptic sounds), but there are a few things that actively block gameplay as well. Notably, it's also setting Necrom quests as 'complete' for players who haven't done Necrom, so the quest markers are invisible for those NPCs and the Zone Guide is not able to point players in the right direction at all.

It is also blocking players from queueing properly for Tales of Tribute matches, as the queue is looking for the flag set after you do the tutorial... but that flag is one of the ones that gets cleared. However, players can't do that quest because it's already done. That means that affected players are actively barred from content they paid for.

If anyone else is getting hit with this bug, please bring some visibility to the thread in the Bug Reports section. We're still waiting for any announcement that this bug is even a thing.

@ZOS_GinaBruno , sorry to bother, but is there anything that the team can share related to this problem and when it can be fixed?

I actually encountered an opposite problem, but wonder if the root cause is the same.

I'm doing the MQ in Necrom, and there are NPCs that refer to me as if I did a side quest that they're also part of. I did, but on another character. This one didn't meet them yet, so the dialogue should be different, neutral; they shouldn't recognise me.

How does your zone guide look?

One of the things that people affected by are finding is that, in addition to most zones losing completion data, Necrom is actually marking quests as finished that shouldn't be. Most people now who haven't touched the Necrom main story are now seeing 8/9 quests completed on the Zone Guide - all except for the penultimate one - even though they did none of the quests.

That also means that the quest markers aren't showing above people. The quests do seem to be available (Leramil is still in Necrom next to the wayshrine with her "Fate needs you, proxy" dialogue), but there's no quest marker to indicate that she's going to give the quest, and no markers to show here to go.

Yup I have this also on characters that completed Ember's intro quest awhile ago.
EVERY time I hit that wayshrine "GET AWAY FROM ME STUPID THING!! is it gone?" :s
