I hate the new filet option

I understand and share the annoyance that the fish filet UI is the default when you access a provisioning station. But I’m not at all sure why so many of you seem to be crafting items for each writ, instead of crafting provisioning items in bulk and banking them.

Cause bank space is more precious.
Still it's a bad UX. Only a small portion of recipes use fish and there are alternatives with the same stats for all but the special recipes. So fileting isn't the most common task. UX should have sane defaults.

I'm having a different problem. I go to the provisioning station and no tab for cleaning fish at all.

That's probably caused by an addon.

But if not, I'd be happy to replicate this problem on my game

It's really annoying to retrain muscle memory

@Braffin turns out it is the addon CraftStore causing my problem and might be your solution. When the option to use Craft Store Cook is on the provisioning table doesn't show the fish cleaning tab.

Thanks for the information. I'll give it a try.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Perfect! (for me, anyway) :) I'll keep using CraftStore then, along with Votan's Fish Filet.

I was completely surprised about it being the default option, too. I would really appreciate it not being the default option. I can't imagine there are more people are filleting fish than there are crafters.

I don't fish, ever. My provisioning screen now opens up blank 100% of the time and it's annoying.

The community provides stellar QoL ideas and yet somehow the actual implementation regularly misses the mark. I don't care if the dev team plays the game or not. They really need a small team of daily players that can tinker with new additions and provide feedback so that QoL adjustments and additions can actually be QoL adjustments and additions.

I'd like to see Filet between Drinks and Furnishings. This way all of the current tabs would remain where they were and it wouldn't be disruptive to our established routines.

So it would be Food - Drinks - Filet - Furnishings.

    @ZOS_Kevin Please pass this along.

Devs probably used other Crafting Stations as a reference, since all of them have raw material refining as the default tab. Also, I'm not bothered by it. Doing an extra click really isn't the end of the world for me.

I don't want to filet my fish this way. Can we remove this option that I have to move every time? Doesn't save time, just adds extra step.

If I was going to guess, I would think that in this instance the use of “bait” is meant to be humorous as well due to the fishy topic, but I may be wrong 🐠

If you are just trying to filet, you don't need to go anywhere. Open inventory, put the mouse over the fish, should have an E option to "use" (filet). If you have the votan filet addon you don't even have to keep hitting the button. It filets the whole stack.

I agree that putting fish filleting on first screen is a bit annoying. Especially when someone does the speed runs with daily writs on multiple characters, and is accustomed to same repeatable chain of crafting stations. Like someone pointed to, there is an addon that manages this issue with filleting fishes. And probably most players do not play with fishes/filleting at all, like myself. Then it's hard to understand why ZOS wasted money on the same functionality but embedded in game. In my opinion they should focus on more important aspects, like to finally allow the tresure maps to be stacked in inventory and bank.

Yes, I know. But has this to do with the problem at hand? (That you have to do an extra click every time you want to cook anything).

Or how about letting siege stack? Or having a quick action wheel for siege? There are so many QoL improvements needed.

They also open the first set of recipes instead of going into the menu with all of them closed. I have a wonky mouse wheel and can't scroll most of the time so it takes awhile to click down to the recipes I need.

I play with gamepad, and I agree with OP, it's indeed annoying having to bypass it every time you interact with the station. I was also surprised they didn't make it more inconspicuous, and chose to put if before crafting, it should have been on a different tab, like furnishing is.

I rather like the new filet option. It saves a HUGE amount of time over the old way, even with the add-on.

It would be fine if they moved the filet tab on the Provisioning station UI to another position, so that fileting is not the default tab, but other than that, please don't mess with it.
