I am not sure what the comparison is with the number of players in ESO vs WOW but WOW have Oceanic servers and the are always well populated. I can’t see why ESO can’t do likewise.
As an Aussie I would transfer to an Oceanic server even if I was the only person on it. Woul just have to hone my skills a lot 😂 to solo those WB.

The big difference between ESO servers and WoW servers is the size of the server. ESO uses a mega server design and WoW uses much smaller servers. So looking at the total number of players is not as relevant as one might think.

yep, i know there's a lot of aussie players but i dont believe an oceanic mega server would work, but an asia-pacific one might, after all asia alone has 8 times the population of north america

If it would draw twice the players that the NA server draws then Zenimax would have created the server to serve the asian nations long ago. After all, they were the largest privately owned game developers in the world before MS purchased them so they clearly have some business sense.

i don't know about them and business sense, the game didn't have any Asian language translation for a long time, that's a huge missed market
every other western mmo had Chinese or Japanese language at launch except eso. From a different perspective, if they had Chinese language at launch, maybe they already would've attracted enough players to justify an Asia server. instead, they added the language 8 years after the game launch

FF14 and BDO (some consider to be a major MMO) are both based in Asian nations so it would seem extremely odd if they did not include support for some Asian languages at launch. It would have been odd for FF14 to not have Japanese language support. I cannot find when Blizzard added Chinese language support to WoW, only that they shut down the Chinese server.
Still, if an Asian-based server were thought to draw twice the players as the NA server, as I stated, there would likely have been an Asian-based server long ago. That is not even getting to the significantly larger number implied. Heck, even if it were to be the same population as the NA or EU servers that would have likely been a done deal long ago.
We could probably go back and forth on this for a while so I will note this will be my last post for this discussion. Have a good day.

everyone is entitled to an opinion, all I'm saying is if other western mmos have an Asia server, why doesn't ESO. Guild wars has a China server, Albion has an Asia server, obviously wow has one too but the former 2 I mentioned have similar player population to ESO, Albion is even much smaller, and if ESO can't "attract Asian players", what makes the other western mmo able to? and don't forget the elder scrolls franchise is hugely popular in Asia
once again I agree there must be a reason they haven't made an Asia server and any speculation is fine, but saying ESO won't attract players in Asia I cannot agree

That is not what was being said in the post replying to my post.
I also already noted what Zenimax had said and it should be clear considering our servers are called mega servers. Games like WoW and FF14 play on small shards or servers. Their population per server is tiny compared to what ESO has. Their server design could not handle the population ESO has on one server.
Again, Zenimax was the largest private gaming company before MS recently purchased them so they clearly proved themselves to know their business very well. So yes, clearly they missed the boat on such a huge windfall.
