Arcanist major sorcery/brutality carries over from one bar to another, why can't Sorc Pets?

So if Arcanist can slot Inspired Scholarship on a back bar and still have the buffs persist when they switch to the front why do Sorc pets still need to be double barred? Vampire blood frenzy is another ability that stays active even when swapping away from the bar it's slotted on. It was always a bad design to have as a requirement and these abilities prove it's possible to change it so that pets persist even when you swap to the off bar they're not slotted on.

You gain a buff, not a pet. You can get that buff from other skills, there's no pet skill available to all classes. That's the cost of a perma pet and it's fair imo. You can have summons like necro, one barred but time limited. If we talk about skills like Inspired Schoolarship I'd love to see skills like Camo Hunter or Inner Light carry their passive crit chance to the other bar. Same goes to any skill that passivly grants a buff like that (Flames of Oblivion, Repentence).

It's because pets have multiple functions. If the twilight only healed, I would understand. But it's offensive and defensive so it's two slots. Take off the heal and allow it to be one barred, and then it's basically the skeletal archer.

Easy solution to this would be to make pets auto un-sommon & re-summon for free on bar switch. That way sorcs would be able to back-bar heals or front-bar DPS, instead of having to commit to double barring either.

Or even just making pets passive on their off-bar. They'd still be vulnerable to damage, but wouldn't contribute in any way until their bar is switched back to.

Sorcs shouldn't have two class skills that require twice the bar economy as every other skill; the benefits pets bring don't justify it on their own without building specifically around them, and ultimately it makes sorcs' only best class heal inaccessible.

I think it would be great if they allowed ALL passive buffs to be active no matter what bar they are equipped on. However, a BUFF is different then a 'pet' that does active damage while also being able to activate a skill.

It could be that ZOS didn't have the tech and code required to have such buffs persist across bars. But now, with the development of the Arcanist, they do. If that's the case, we could see skills get similar behaviors soon!

But, we might not. It could be a creative decision by ZOS to double-bar pets in order to offset the relatively high power they provide compared to other skills.

Maybe they could consider giving us weaker pets if we single-bar them, and stronger pets of we double-bar them? That sounds like a neat idea to me.

Could also be expanded into other passive slottables! For example, what if single-baring Expert Hunter passively gives you Major Savagery, but double-baring it gives you Major Savagery and Major Brutality. It would be a great boon for casual players, necromancers, some DK and Templar builds, or anyone who doesn't like to craft expensive potions.

Once again i'll say, the double bar pets is a big reason sort is one of the most new player friendly and just generally easier classes to play, I would not like to see what makes the class work for the large majority of people who use it go away.

I would love to see alternative builds that do not use the pet be improved so people could have a way to play the class without destroying what makes the class what it means to the game

This is how all class skills should function in my opinion. Being able to backbar skills for their passives is a lot more intuitive and user-friendly, and would eliminate a lot of the confusing terminology for new players concerning "active" vs "slotted".

I hope for this change to come ever since I saw the first pix of the tooltips.
I am hopeful for next weeks balance changes.

Honestly, the cat is out of the bag. No use putting it back.
If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

I thought about it and imo a good solution would be making pets a toggle ability like Frenzy. One bared, with mag or stam drain / sec, just make their active abilities part of the base and make them instant summon.

As for the passives, having Major Savagery and Prophecy on both bars from Camo Hunter or Inner Light is a dream but I wouodn't want the skill tree passives to work light that, so no extra weapon and spell dmg from fighters guild and no max mag and mag regen if the skill is not on the active bar. Same as Inspired Schoolarship gives Brutality and Sorcery but no extra pen from the passive if it's not on the active bar

I feel like Inspired Scholarship is a test run for future changes to other skill lines. I would love for skills like Magelight and Expert Hunter to adopt this -- and yes, the Sorc pets as well...
