Skar level to beat boss?

i have just returned from a long hiatus and find my 39 Nightblade pa rked outside Skar entrance.
Once inside to do the quest I dispatch the minions ok. But when it comes to the boss he takes me out every time.
Should a 39 not be attempting this, and what level should I be?
Any tactical hints would be appreciated. I know this is old content but I need to get it done to move on.

    You can ask for help in zone chat. Usually it's possible to help others with quest bosses (unless it's the main quest). If you're on PC EU, I could help you. :)
