Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

I'm starting from scratch after eight years and there are things that bother me a lot.

I recently left my country for the States and changed my region of residence from Europe to America. I would really like to stay playing on the European server, however I still want to have the best ping and the prime time in which I live. I've been playing eso for eight and a half years, I've completed a lot of trifecta achievements, a large collection worth a lot of crowns, an almost complete collection of sets. And of course, a large amount of resources in my craft bag. But now I have to start all over again. It’s good that at least a few tens of thousands of crowns and a couple of thousand gems, received over the years of twitch drops, are transferred to NA with me.
And in general, it did not bother me much. I started a new life and starting over in my favorite MMO should be the least of my worries. However, the closer I get to getting a gaming PC, the more I start thinking about things about eso that I hadn't thought about before. And he began to dwell in a certain light horror. I want to share this with you:

For me, the issue of racial passives again became acute. I thought about creating completely new characters on the new server. But now, when I think about it, I understand that I will also need a warden tank argonian, dd dunmer and so on. So for now I decided that I will recreate my main at 100%, maybe a little less in line.

Archeology. I was hoping that I could buy this skill in the crown store. But I forgot that for starters it must be fully raised on one of the characters. And secondly, it is simply not in the crown store. It turns out that before starting the quest line in all zones, I will have to fly just like that to Solitude to open access to the skill, upgrade it, and only after that I can safely start my journey through Tamriel from scratch. This will greatly break my immersion. Therefore, I will most likely pump archeology on another character. One character will receive leads, the other will dig them out.
Tales of Tribute. It's the same with archaeology. I really love this card game, but I would not want to start my journey with the fact that I just have to fly around all of Tamriel like Sonic in order to continue playing calmly.
And if you think about it, the same applies to jewelry crafting ...
And to endaviors too...
In general, repeating the experience of vanilla as in 2015 does not seem to work out at all. This really saddens me. But it's not yet a disaster.

As I said, I left a very large amount of resources and gold in my crafting bag in EU. And I would like to somehow transfer them to myself on the NA server and I know that there are people who play on both servers and we could exchange gold and resources. But I'm worried that the system that monitors rmt activity will just ban me, as it will look like sudden and big gifts “just like that”. So I have a few hundred chrome and a couple hundred million gold. I would like to take them with me. This would make it much easier for me to adapt to the new server. But I just can't do it because of the imperfection of the system and risk losing everything forever.

I have a large collection in EU, which I spent a lot of crowns on over the years of playing and I find it extremely unfair and wrong that purchases do not apply to both servers. This is perhaps the most serious since it directly affects my finances.

Fishing, achievements for a collection of items from creatures, searching for the poor and merchants, this is what plunges me into horror. Seriously, at one time I spent a lot of time on them. And now to get simple colors I will have to do it again.

I also lose a lot of event rewards. But I hope that in the future I will be able to buy them.

Perhaps the worst thing for me is the loss of a collection of sets. Especially collections of perfect sets from trials. I don't know how to ask for raids without relequin and whorl. I just hope I can find a farm raid and get those sets there. However, it won't be very easy.

not sure who told you that, but it is flat out false information, the racial passives as of right now provide so little benefit that unless you are going to be scorepushing on high end content, they would not matter.

Okay, maybe. In any case, I'm so used to my main that I'll probably recreate it on a new server anyway.

I mean, that's the interface button you hit to do it. But your characters, collections, etc don't cross over the regions, and that's what the OP is losing with the region move. Yes, you can go back to characters on the other server at any time, but there's no way to translate collected gear on EU to your NA characters.
Edited to add: in principle, OP could of course just keep playing on EU. But if they've moved to NA, then playing on EU at minimum involves having significantly higher ping, and quite possibly a schedule that's not compatible anymore if they are doing group activities like trials.

I live in NA and started playing on EU during the Summerset celebration several years ago when everyone who qualified got the Grand Psijic Manor for free.

I now play on both servers every day, and my experience has been that they seem to have more or less the same performance. Yes, the pings (or "latency") can vary between them, but it also varies a good bit on the same server.

By all means, begin playing with new characters on NA if you wish. But I would encourage you to continue playing on EU as well so you can keep enjoying your existing characters.

I also play on NA and EU servers from NA mountain west area. Even though my only connection is satellite, I don't have any problem playing on both servers - it's no more high ping/lag on EU than NA.

I actually had fun starting over on EU several years back. No, I didn't have all my "stuff", but I picked up things I wanted as they showed up; and because I'd had quite a bit already on NA, I kind of concentrated getting things on EU for the first year there.

And welcome to the US - I hope you will like it here!

I understand why character progress and coin doesn't transfer but crown purchases definitely should. At the very least the ones you bought with your own money so there is record of the transaction on your account.

I abandoned 7 years of progress and switched servers a little over a year ago. Theres literally one thing I miss- an outfit that I believe was a pre order bonus for Western Skyrim.

Don't miss having my own fully loaded guild hall, or the 20k crowns I didn't spend, or my gold etc etc. Its a fresh start, it's fine.

In terms of grinding skill lines again it was mostly fun. Archeology makes you serious bank, at least by console standards- I made around 300k doing it.

I get what you mean about hopping all over the place being immersion breaking, I really wish they'd take that complaint seriously. It's supposed to be a bloody continent, they have us hopping around like it's one small island. But I knew it would be like that so it didn't really bug me.

I'm actually surprised that ZoS hasn't implemented a server transfer option in the crown store. It sucks because it will cost money, but if you look at something like WoW, that is possible and costs money so it isn't unusual for an MMO to have a feature like this.

I guess the only issue would be Character Names, but the way around that would be it forces a random character name to which you'd then have to purchase Name Change Tokens to change it to something you'd like.

In terms of what to do in regards to getting perfected gear back. It would be best to just get a crafted gear setup and join in on Craglorn PUGs until you have the non-perfected setups, to which you'd then find vet farm groups easier and more likely to be accepted in there.

I'd bet that if the OP submitted a support ticket, there's a decent chance that ZOS would transfer their account to the new server.

I don't think they would. It falls under the same "we have not built and do not intend to build tools to transfer accounts" that was their answer in the past.

I'm baffled OP that after 9 years we still don't have a server transfer mechanism in place. I used transfers in SWTOR a lot to port over my achievements, titles, and so on which made starting over a lot easier. You can take gear with you too so your new toons could start raiding/PVPing etc and I'd love if ZoS implemented something similar.

For context, I play 99.9% on EU, a little bit on NA for fun. I used to live near NYC, now I live in Germany. This is how my ping usually was:

from NA to EU: 120-180 ping
from NA to NA: 70-90 ping
from EU to EU: 50-70 ping
from EU to NA: 210-300 ping

and I do notice the difference. NA to EU was playable but I could tell I had latency. EU to NA is unplayable in serious content (for my standards). I totally can believe that you feel it with the swap.

my pc EU latency is (usually) 100-110 and my NA is 200 ,there is no difference in gameplay apart from some very high pop

As an EU player who also plays on NA (I'm often up late so it made sense for me), I can say that while there is a delay from increased ping, it's perfectly playable, to the point that I'm getting invited to HM and trifecta groups on NA. I also have a friend who moved to the US and continued without issue on the EU server. I'd suggest you see how bad the ping back to the EU server will be for you before committing to starting over.

Agree with OP on there being no joy in leveling 'mundane' stuff up. I have 2 NA accounts and run EU as well with one of them but the thought of maxing out lines like Psijic and Scrying on all of them is not appealing. Even having to do Scrying on multiple characters on the same account (i.e. to get PVP weapons on different factions) is not fun.

I'd also love for there to be a way to transfer your own 'possessions' between the servers in the same way you can transfer between accounts on the same servers, through mail, guild banks, etc. Both servers have the same content, quests, drops, sets, materials, etc., so I don't see why we can't do it.

As has been mentioned, the servers have their 'own' economies, which can differ a fair bit in what's 'valuable' at any given time. Maybe someone would find a way to manipulate this to increase their own coffers but that really only extends what is already a manipulated marketplace on either, or both, servers anyway.
