I'm very surprised to hear that Orsinium is one of the most expensive DLCs now

It’s 3000 crowns as a standalone DLC. The previous Chapters (excluding Morrowind which is now free) are all 3500. All other DLC zones are 2k.

However, and this was not true when I made this post yesterday, the “Guilds and Glory” DLC bundle which includes Orsinium is on sale for 2000 crowns.

Did Zeni add the sale in response to my post? Probably not, but I’m going to take credit anyway :D

I second the fact that Orsinium is indeed amazing! I did the zone when it launched and it was something else, definitely. I have the memory of it being the best zone AND best main quest ever added to the game. Maybe it's just nostalgia but I think it's not. People should definitely check it out!

Orsinium was technically the fourth DLC.

Lower and upper Craglorn are the first and second DLC but since they were added during the mandatory subscription days they are considered part of the base game now.

Regardless, as new context becomes old content it becomes stale and less used. It’s a been there, some that a thousand times issue. It’s also why new content needs to be added regularly.

Sadly, there are no sets that are BIS. Sure, Briarheart is decent but its def not BIS and hasn't been for some time.

Maelstrom weapons are from the Orsinium DLC.

You travel direct to Maelstrom Arena, like a dungeon/trial. This topic is about the Wrothgar/Orsinium zone and why hardly anyone goes there despite the awesome game world design and once desirable content.

There are several examples of old content being refreshed/updated: Cyrodiil (the hammer, new mechanics, new pvp sets added every update) Imperial City (flags), addition of mythic leads, new motifs and furnishing recipes to various areas... to name but a few.

So there's no reason why some of the bigger and better areas like Wrothgar can't be updated too, in some capacity.

I've bought it in discounted 4-pack before IC went free. Well, I didn't check but I guess this pack no longer exists in store.
    ...

Yes still exist and it is in sale about 6x in the year.
Imperial City (FREE) + Orsinium + Dark Brotherhood + Thieves Guild
Bundle price is 4000 crowns and on sale 2000. But still IC is free now so it is not 500/dlc in bundle.

It's definitely populated enough on pceu, not overcrowded though. See way less action in Blackwood or Skyrim zones comparatively.

Sticker book, vma weaps and other changes made zone less populated bit still wb's are done pretty frequently, you see people in all PD's, maybe way less in delves. For me it's still the best dlc ESO had to offer, it's easily best content of all "chapters" and one of the best stories and the way how it was weaved into.

i can confirm, both pc regions- EU and NA have lots of players doing dailys and farming
Wrothgar was the first chapter i fully cleared, back in summer of 2016,during the first witches festival the same year i camped inside Coldperch Cavern for 1 week and me and another dude we were killing Kraala Birdsong over and over to get all rewards, good times :)
i now visit regularly to farm mats and do stories with my NA toons mostly

        Good to know!
Considering the prices on those DLCs seperately (2000 TG, 2000 DB, 3000 Orsinium) it is still good offer, 2000 for 7000 products. I guess it makes worth buying the pack if you want any of DLCs included.

During the Jesters' festival I ran my lowlevel alts to get their first gear in nMA. Just a bit more fun to grind low-lvl exp and missed sets for stickerbook.
Those alts had to get there through the Wrothgar for the first time. And, you know, each time I met 3-5 people near the oblivion portal.
Well, you'd tell me they just reset the arena. But at least one of them ran into or out of the keep, so I hope it counts like people running Wrothgar zone :)

Also went to WB while I was gathering surveys and treasure maps nearby. Almost every time there were at least 2 more people on boss. No comparison with event times, but each time... I wouldn't say the zone is empty. It is just not crowded, and people spread by interests not like standing in Belkarth.

PS: that was PC EU if matters

I think they'd have to do something about Stuga if they made it free.

Part of the reason I never bought the DLC was to avoid dealing with her on my characters.

Well you missed out I'm afraid. Once you do what she says and speak to the Ambassador you never see Stuga again.

In my opinion, Orsinium is the best DLC ESO has ever released. Phenomenal story writing, lots of great motifs, strong but balanced sets, rich expansion of orismer culture as more than just cartoonish brutes, fun solo content that was also challenging for endgamers in the form of Maelstrom Arena, an absolutely gorgeously designed overland and zone. And it's also when Lawrence Schick did the Fa-Nuit-Hen interviews, hugely expanding metaphyscial lore of TES.

Orsinium is the apex of ESO content.

Agree. People will still pay good $$ for this content. Why would they give that away only so they could shoot themselves in the foot.

The topic is about the DLC itself. The title makes that clear and even in the OP they are mentioning that he title.

As far as the OP goes, Wrothgat used to have double drop events. It may not anymore due to age or it’s bundled with other older content but it’s not neglected because it’s a dlc instead of a chapter.

The expample of Cyrodiil doesn’t apply to PvE zones and should not. We don’t get new PvP zones every year so if would not make sense to wait until a new PvP zone is added to make new gear that is available from PvP.

Even then, a new weapon. Has been added to the orsinium DLC via the vMA weapons.

But, it make’s significantly more sense to add new armor and weapons to new content rather than old content as Zenimax wants to sell that new content. There is her little benefit to making such changes to content most already own. MMORPG business 101.

        Orsinium is awesome.

I think new players may not be buying it because it does cost, doesn't come with new game purchases and doesn't have a 'hook' like Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood for those skill lines. So, not much incentive to purchase it.

I have multiple accounts and many of them are just for farming / crafting writs but I still purchase Orsinium for every one of them, along with Summerset (for the jewelry). I wait till the pack is on sale that offers Orsinium / DB / TG, it's the best buy.

I would tend to agree with others that maybe its time that Orsinium was offered for free, included in base game purchase or at the least offered for less crowns.

Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild should remain as requiring purchase. Those ones give skill lines and, recognizing the business model, make sense to keep them as necessary to purchase. They are truly stand alones imo, just like Summerset with jewelry. They have a value different from other zones like Morrowind and yes, Orsinium which, great as they are, don't have that specialty aspect.

Like many of the special houses in zones it's offered when that zone is having an event usually.
Seems Orsinium used to have an event each year around it's anniversary.. that has changed. Just like the Clockwork City events. Possibly because it has to be purchased but then I remember them also offering a 'free Plus' weekend during those events as well. There are more "Mayhem" events each year now than there used to be in years gone by.

I think the special houses like Forgemaster Falls, after a period of time, should be added to the regular Crown Store Housing list, to be purchased at any time, not just events.
I think people would buy crowns to get houses that are only offered sporadically. Feeds our impulse purchases lol.

Personally, I do love Wrothgar area, but rarely return to it and I very much regret it.

There are - for my taste - too many foes dispatched nearly everywhere. That's easy foes so easy kills, it's not the point. Just, when I go wandering in explorable, doing nothing else than enjoying the landscape while lazily collecting resources on the way, I don't want to have to fight something every 3 or 4 running steps I do. And Wrothgar is unfortunately like that, what gets me bored in no time. Even picking up a survey there, requires first to clear foes at location before to collect the resources (just had one).

The area just doesn't match my way to play. Am too lazy for it. o:)

Minority opinion here it seems. Orsinium is in my top five least fave zones due to its frustrating navigation/cliffblocking.

Other zones in my dislike list include Vvardenfell, Summerset and The Deadlands. In each of these zones, who wants to quest for pompous, hateful NPCs like the Dunmer, Altmer or Dremora that inhabit those zones? I'd rather kill them than lift a finger to help them.

I tend to agree. I enjoyed the yearly event that was held in Wrothgar it's what brought me to the zone initially when a new player. Even when rolling new toons I like running them through the zone for various activities while most other zones I hate to re-do same content.

I'm probably going to take some heat for this opinion, but here goes anyway. While Wrothgar is a lot of fun as a zone, and it has some cool side quests I hated the story because the Orc's which are supposed to be such tough warriors are so whiny in the story line. It just felt like I was trying to do that Sadrith Mora questline again where Sun-In-Shadow does nothing but whine and want more from you.

A longer event in Wrothgar would be a way to bring more players. 2x HP, 2x harvesting, for like 3 weeks would be nice. Celebrate Nostalgia! Maybe even offer a chance to drop an Arena weapon at the Unforgotten Dolmen...
