Did you even buy crowns? You've been playing and subbed for 9 years, surely the monthly eso plus crowns are enough at that point?

Um, I have 16 characters and have paid to upgrade all of them, I also buy Crown crates and many other items (including houses) from the Crown store. So no, monthly sub (and I do annual) does not cover the amount that I typically spend. I don't consider myself a whale, but some others might.

ESO has almost ever monetary stream that you can have hooked up to it.
-buy to play
-sub
-loot boxes
-cash shop
-cash shop with false scarcity to drive up sales
-multiple premium and semi premium currencies
-premium currencies that go on "sale" (there is NO scarcity in the digital market, no such thing as "sale")
-paid expansions
-paid DLC (if your not sub)
-paid classes
-paid skill lines (jewelry and other DLC lines)
-paid items (mythics)
-grinds you can pay to skip again (psijic, skill lines, sky shards, etc.)

and thats on top of all the in game systems
-the endevours try to create a daily habbit and a weekly log in habbit
-the monlthly log ins try to create a daily log in habbit
-the crafting writs try to create a daily log in habbit

there may be an Elder Scrolls skin on this particular digital medium but always be aware of the fact that games at the end of the day want your money, your not defending people, your defending greed.

just because you CAN spend money does not mean you want to throw it away. and ESO more and more feels like a dying live service (to stack on the pile.)

Housing alone will treat your monthly crowns like chump change. Farming low drop rates pushes you to either learn to make millions of gold to buy mats/crowns or straight buy crowns.(unless you run bots for the mats I guess, but that's a whole 'nother discussion)

Always been subbed, never have enough crowns, they all go on increasing my enjoyment of decorating my homes.

I have the original banker but no other purchasable assistants, or inventory increasing pets and I've never brought skill lines, consumables etc etc

Just furnishings and the odd crown house when my family buy me crowns for my birthday and xmas.
