Would I watch it? Probably. Do I want it? Ehhh, depends on what it’s about and how well it’s made.

Typical series, no way. They're all about a fixed cast of quirky characters and drama, the very things TES is not about. I'd watch a travel show or serialized nature documentaries about it. I'd watch something akin to Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends too.

For me, games vs. series/films rarely give something good. I can't recall any that I liked out of what has been done until now. That's also valid in the other direction: I never enjoyed games made out of films/series.

I therefore globally prefer that both remain two different activities, no matter what game.
I'm out of my mind, feel free to leave a message... PC/NA

No they will ruin it. Like most things in Hollywood. The series should be left as games and the 2 novels. Making it a series or movie would completely Ruin it. There has never been a good adaptation ever made that was worth while from a game. More novels I wouldn’t mind though.

I've heard some are practically unreadable, so I'm not sure they'd translate well.

Wonder if a series would have as many bloopers as the games have bugs?

Probably yes. But I have absolutely 0 faith in modern Hollywood to get it right. If I even get a whiff that it's similar to Rings of Power, I would just not watch it at all.

If you asked me 20 years ago I'd have been all for it, but the series didn't even exist as it currently does 20 years ago, so would've been impossible regardless.

In the end, The Elder Scrolls is "just" a fantasy setting. It's not a story in itself, it's a world where different stories take place.

So apart from all the visual stuff, the quality of a movie or series has not much to do with the setting of TES, and much more with the general writing and story quality of the show.
Can you have a show of GoT's quality set in the Elder Scrolls universe? Of course.
Can you frell it up like GoT did? Sure you can.
It all depends on what story they tell. TES has the potential to host good stories, and it also has the potential to turn into a complete trainwreck.

And that includes stories based on those mentioned in games, or even main plots of the games. For a format like TV or a movie, the main stories of TES games are utterly inadequate - because they are written for a free-exploration video game. Those two have wildly different methods of storytelling, and you can't just take the ingame story and do a movie with it. Sure, you need like 30-50 hours to complete the TES3:Morrowind story, but 50% of it is randomly walking through the landscape fighting the same overland trash every few miles, 40% are repetitive "go here, do that, come back, get next task, repeat" quests - those work in a video game where you want to go out and do stuff, but are a snoozefest in TV format. And for the last 10%, the meat of the story, you are utterly alone. You are traveling alone, you are going places alone, all interaction is fleeting and temporary, there are no relationships and personal conversations, just functional interaction.

So even if you take the TES3 story, you'd have to
    - condense the repetitive and videogame-y nature of the story into one that people want to watch, not play,
    - write additional characters and their relationships and personalities,
    - expand on existing NPCs to make them into believable characters, instead of Morrowiki access points,
    - create a story arc with clear beats, instead of the meandering mess that is the story experienced by a random player...

Essentially, you'd have to re-write the entire story, with the main aspects that make for an interesting movie experience being the things that you'd have to add, and can't take from the game.

So again, whether a TES movie or TV series is good or bad, entirely depends on the writers of that movie/show. TES is just the backdrop so the CGI department has stuff to do.

The series could be called stories from Nirn.
The first season could tell the story of the Dwemer, Indoril Nerevar and the Tribunal.

Making the plot in timeline order is a common mistake.
The plot should be dynamic with many flashbacks, twists and drama elements.
Story of Nerevarin, who reveals the idea of his own reincarnation and past as Nerevar, is already well structured for drama. I think it should be just salted a bit with dramatic elements like finding a friend, being betrayed, miraculous rescue and it is ready to be baked.

Dwemers are a mystery. They can be used the same as in game - to play "meet a strange thing" card. Also plot makers could use dwemers for their own episode as filler to save the middle of the 3rd season.

I would like to watch MTV style reality shows placed in Tamriel. You know, things like "Pimp My Guar", "Date my Khajiiti momma" or "My Mushroom Mansion" where Telvannis shows their awesome towers and cool Argonian slaves.

There are some good examples like arcane, which I think is great.
The cyberpunk anime was great in my opinion.
The anime "Steins.Gate" is in my opinion one of the best animes (also based on a game).

I think animated stuff can be easily done. For real world movies it gets a bit more complicated. I think doing this well is the same level as doing a real world version of an anime / animated movie well.

There are few like erased (watched the anime and real world movie, I even dont know what was first or which is better) or the fan project light of hope looks really great (havent fully watched it yet). Also I think that the real world adaption of Bleach (at least until the mid) is well done.

The witcher was at least ok.

So I think a movie adaption of elder scrolls for sure could work, why wouldnt it be possible to create a great movie?

It could be made like game of thrones with less adult content and more magic but still plenty of intrigues for example. For example the oblivion story with the mythic dawn stuff and murder of the emperor could perfectly work and some action based stuff in the planes of oblivion and some story lines of a few chosen sidequests or even something new.

But realistically I guess it would end up being some trash like some (low budget) Dungeons & Dragons movies or the Rings of Power (high budget, big hype but meh in so many ways)...

At first it was a hard no.

But then, I had an idea. A Ken Burns Style documentary series on the various locales and historical events of Tamriel narrated by the modern equivalent of Morgan Freeman or some old british sounding person could be hugely entertaining for people who already like these games.

About the Lore of The Elder Scroll.
    Which Elder Scroll?

Some, in the Lore there are many stories that you can use to make a series.

Watches the joke fly over their head.

There are many Elder Scrolls and each one tells a different part of Nirn's History. Like for example in Skyrim you had to get the Elder Scroll of Dragon locked away in the Tower of Mzark in order to learn what happened to Alduin and learn the shout you need.

So if you don't say "The Elder Scrolls" as a series and instead "The Elder Scroll" the question becomes for those who know the lore.... which one?

I would love to see a CGI animated movie with any of the stories in TES Legends, specially the Isle of Madness expansion. TES is a rich universe filled with lore, so it can definitely work for an animated series similar to ESO's cinematics, as long as they properly choose a time and place and keep it concise. It would probably be better to go with new characters rather than existing ones for canon's sake, though some linear stories from the books (such as Barenziah's) or the aforementioned Isle of Madness could also work.
