I agree. There’s this bias towards taking the side of HA builds and LA players receiving hate. It’s as if the mere scent of someone being anti-oakensoul makes them the boogeyman. I think that arcanists’s crux system will be compromised by a HA build due to skills needing to be cast to generate crux, and the potential new mythics will lead to an empower nerf.

I’m actually fine with oakensoul the way it is, except for empower. The cp should be nerfed or the HA multiplier changed. Empower should also have a major and minor form.

That is nonsense. LA players don't get hate for playing LA builds while HA players get quite a hate for playing HA builds. What attracts hate is more that a handful of very forum-active LA build players advocate very loudly for nerfing a playstyle of other players. These people should not be surprised by this echo.

I respectfully disagree. When skinny cheeks merely mentioned changing the HA multiplier, people went berserk and were trying to dox him according to Nefas.

Those for oakensoul usually say, “It’s a game, let people play how they want.” But what’s also true is that in a game, feedback anywhere from buffing to nerfing something is also very normal. More often than not I see LA players being silenced when simply expressing their concerns. I don’t think people should be silenced for calling for something to be nerfed.

Actually, while I only, marginally, use Oakensoul in specific instances...... I'd be fine with some fine tuning.

I did state that dropping empower to 60% and the Cleave to 80% would probably be ok, but those suggestions were ignored, as were the builds I posted that included EVERY thing that is supposedly wrong with Oakensoul, except not containing Oakensoul.... also ignored. That's because a lot of people would rather knock someone else down, to make themselves look better, than actually improve and rise by their own ability. They scream nerf it all... and yet, the issue is so limited to lightning staves, that it's almost it's own meme. You do not hear about overpowered Oakensoul fire stave builds, or Ice stave builds... or 2Handed or Duel Wield, for that matter.

The most recent bow build uses an AOE enhancement set to boost the several AOE's it has... with a character that, almost accidentally, has a bow, and Oakensoul tacked on as an afterthought, though it doesn't really provide a lot, but a second weapon bar wouldn't give it any more, either.... and that bow is there only to proc a snare and help the set and other skills have more time......
You could get the same, or even better, with ANY weapon, a DK, and Ash Cloud with the other DK AOE's... except that would just be trading one class set of AOE for another, and DK is severely overtuned, at the moment.

And I fully expect that the content providers will claim a lot of conflict --- Oakensoul has become clickbait ... add it to any build, even if it has no real effect, and both sides will click.... and considering the U35 loss of viewers.... there is a need for clickbait if they want to get back some of that revenue that they lost.

In the end, the actual culprit is the Lightning Stave combined with hundreds of sets ... with the number of sets in the game, you are going to get abuse...... I have heard it claimed that empower on the ring is "just so overpowered"... yet every character in the game has access to other sources of that ... and some, like Queen's Elegance, don't need a button push..... just hold your mouse, and off it goes.

Leaning into crit, using light armor for max penetration, etc will net you the same result as Oakensoul... without needing to grind the ring out.......especially with ANY source of empower, and there are plenty of those.... and a lightning staff.
But haters want to scream about something they don't even use, and try and tell other people how to play......

It's not that people ignore it it's more that since you have a more reasonable approach to it people don't like to react to it as it doesn't get the blood boiling as good.
