I noticed that only 2 races get to have a tail, while the rest are totally tailless. To be fair with other races, why not allow them to use fake tails?

    I feel like that would look really out of place on any race that isn't made with a tail in mind.
    Also, if you want character with a tail why not just choose one of the races that already has one?

    I’ve thought about this before and I think it would be nice to have. Why? Because of Ohmes-Raht. Ohmes are made using Bosmer but the Rahts are unable to get their tail. Besides, I would not be surprised if furries/scalies existed (though tails on a belt may also be a fashion statement), however offended Beastfolk may be. Additionally, it’d be an excuse to work on tail adornments again and hopefully different kinds of tails for use on actual beastfolk.

    I think the upcoming Jester costume is as close as it should get. It just wouldn't work with the way the franchise has presented the various races for a quite a while now to have tails that look like they actually belong on a Breton, IMO. Something along the lines of the Jester costume is okay though because it's clearly just a costume.

    Realistic tails for mer and men would be lore breaking. But technically there's no reason they couldn't wear fake costume tails, like real-life halloween costumes. It might look silly, but no more so than the fake unicorn horse or the various Jester's Festival items.

    I'm not sure how it could be done though. I suppose it would have to be a leggings style with a tail attached.

    Also to be clear I don't want it to happen, I'm just saying it wouldn't be impossible for people in Tamriel to make themselves fake costume tails if they wanted to, so it wouldn't be lore breaking to have them.

    Exactly and completely unnecessary. It is an entertaining idea though but I am fairly certain this will not happen outside of a polymorph that will change the character into a specific appearance of the other race.

    I do agree costumey works just fine. I wouldn't mind seeing that.

    I'm all for more customization in ESO. But there's a lot more stuff I'd like to see before tails for other races (which would be somewhat lore-breaking except in like one outlier case). Lore breaking for the sake of fun can be good in moderation. Chalk it up to Sheogorath being weird, and it's fine!

    Before anything like that, though, I'd like to see more (or even most) of the cosmetics added to the game in a way that we as players can earn them by playing, rather than by paying. If they add all the lore-friendly stuff into the game as earnable cosmetics, then they could revamp the theme of the crown store to a Shivering Isles Curiosities shop of some kind, and make it so lore-breaking cosmetics can only be obtained through purchase, and it's all explained by it being Sheogorath's doing. I'd be A-OK with that! Sign me up for a mount that is a walking bed, or a greatsword skin that is just a really big fish. Or... A tail for any race. Make it called something funny, with a description like "I took this tail from a rather upsetting Khajiit. It can be yours, for only x crowns!" And then an argonian one. Or even cosmetically changing your race while keeping your original racial passives. Lots of options here.

    Edit: My serious answer is no. If you want a tail, you play khajiit or argonian. Cosmetics are already teetering on the edge of what fits in the universe, extra wings, ears and tails would feel out of place.
