Botting on massive scale at Vivec's Antlers (Stonefalls, Ebonheart Pact)

Title. Bots running around in big circle, around 25 of them, killing everything. See attached file for impression.

Report report and report some more. Squash the bots.
  • dr.frostb16_ESO
If only there was an easy way to report so many bots. It is incredibly tediuous especially when the support/report page loads take up to 10 seconds each time.

It took me like 5 minutes to report 4 of them yesterday. Worth it!

But this was the first time I saw a few running around. It kinda ruins the entire immersion thing they kinda had going on :-)

It's not just killing. Massive bot farming of jute in Stonefalls. They occupied every node in the area. They stand there in a groups of 2-5 bots harvesting jute that spawns right back.
  • neuroelectub17_ESO
I hope they're back on later, I'm gonna hop on a tank and drag every mob in the spawn into the bot zerg.

The ravaged village was over run with them, it is tedious to report them. Every time I went to kill a mob for the quests stone relics they swarmed me and what I was killing. I tried to report but they run around endlessly. It really interfered in my game play.

aye saw that myself and reported them. I could not even harvest any of the nodes as it always said it was occupied. A few times I could not even see the bots i would just see the jute spawn and then disappear spawn and disappear over and over again. I sat and watched and finally a bot appeared in the spot and i reported him.

I am watching several bots in stonefalls with noclip flying hacks and speed hacks going from node to node, i think this has become a real problem. No one wants to be walking through stonefalls with a lowbie char they've just brought into eso only to see some stupidly named person running through the sky at super speed.

I can only suspect that new people who are subscribing to eso are see'ing all this hacking the moment they set foot in the starter town only to turn around and unsubscribe.

Exactly the same in all starting areas. In DC, starting island, they are like ants. Everywhere, harvesting, killing, on the beach, inland, just everywhere.
At first I thought they were new players. Some of them have given themselves names that make sense. At first I believed them to be players, but then noticed the same character level 6 still in shackles and never opening a chest.
They just ever run from harvest to harvest. Which is a huge problem as they sit under the radar.

    It's getting ridiculous now.
Even more worrisome is that there are properly named players amongst them - my guess is those are the ones who purchased levelling services.

I would like to see a GM on bot banning duty permanently until ZOS is able to find a long term solution. Not like he needs any special training to identify 15 players named asdfsadrfsa doing all the same things over and over again as bots...

Pointless .. I reported some on Saturday and they're now several levels higher botting somewhere else. Reporting is a PITA without NAMEPLATES to easily right-click on without having to be so damned close in order to focus on the bot you want, so I now just /shrug and move on.

If ZOS were serious about wanting reports they'd make it a damned sight easier that the faffing around we have to do now. and the Help then Report dialog is taking an age to open sometimes.

Yeah, it is definitely out of hand. Had some relief when I finally got to Reapers March to quest. It was very quiet and never saw a bot for a few days and was even able to gather quite a lot of resources without them disappearing in front of my eyes. Well, logged in today before maintenance and a whole stack of level 3 toons with names that make no sense standing in Rawl'kha stacked on top of each other. I mean seriously, this is level 40 content. They need to limit the zones you can travel to at a certain levels. At least until the bot situation gets better under control. Just make it so you cannot travel to player in much higher levels because you do not meat the requirements or something. Now that these low level bots have made their way into Coldharbor it won't be long before they take over all the vet zones. Can't wait to get there.........:(

I don't see bots any more in the AD starting areas. I used to see them a lot in the dungeons. It was really stupid, seeing like 20 dead boss corpses, and seeing the bosses drop in 3 seconds. I think Zenimax has been doing a great job on bot elimination. Though I admit I haven't made it to the higher zones yet, so I can't say the same for all of the AD.

I'd like to see a long term solution where the botters can't make a profit from ESO. I have to say that if there is so much botting it's because there is a demand for it, which means (some) ESO players must be supporting it by buying lots of gold.

One long term solution I really DON'T want to see is any regional IP blocking strategies. With VPN technology and proxy servers the botters can easily bypass that strategy using proxy servers in NA and Europe, while legitimate players in those regions suffer the restrictions or become forced to use proxy servers too.

AD starter island is infested with them. I move to Grahtwood on a higher level toon and they are beginning to move there. I was stunned to see a level 3 harvesting up by the Frost Golems. Look at the area by Haven, they are starting there too.

ZOS could just nerf the loot table of regular mobs like they did with boss encounters. Then there will be nothing to farm for the bots.

This actually worked for Guild Wars 2, bosses and regular mobs got their loot removed after first kill (for a period), and reduced xp per kill after (aka you couldnt farm the same area for to long).

Dunno what can be done about the resources nodes, make em more random? Personalize them with a fixed/random timer?. Meh, damn bots.

At this very moment of edit - @ZOS_GinaBruno EU server is crawling with bots in quest areas. More GM's?.

And a lot of legitimate players also left after that nerf. I ran a 300 strong guild for a quite a while and we lost a lot of good players. Farming has always been a legitimate play method in MMOs. Granted not everybody wants to do that, and that's their decision. BUT... legitimate players should not get punished because a company cannot find an adequate way of preventing botting.

Went there last night and there were so many of them running a big circle that i had hundreds of dreught corpses piling up on screen. They were respawning (and getting killed) faster then the game could dispatch of the bodies.

Stonefalls is overrun by bots. There were literally 100+ i ran into when going from Davon's Watch to Vivec's Antlers. Every Jute spawn point had at least 3 or 4 of them. The ghost battlefield right out of town is completely overrun by them as is Vivec's Antlers.
The other areas probably don't look any better.

@ZOS_GinaBruno This is completely out of control! :(

This is really getting out of control. Zenimax made a change to dungeon bosses & the bots immediately took to the overland zones in response. I jumped on an alt the other day and could not believe how many there were in questing areas, such as the ghosts right outside of Davon's Watch.

If that were my first character & first impression of ESO, I'm not sure I would have played much longer. This is now many player's first impressions of questing. The bots are no longer stationary, and have somehow figured out how to follow a lead character, despite the soft-targeting system. They run a predetermined route, destroying everything in their path. Since they are stacked on top of each other, while constantly moving & increasing in numbers, they have become VERY difficult to report.

After this experience, I hopped back on my main & quested Coldharbour some, and found they're doing the same thing there. The zombie area will have 30 or more bots running around & the daedra area isn't much better.

Come on, Zenimax, ban the gold buyers & show us you're serious.

The big group of around a dozen bots is still running around Vivec's antlers killing Dreugh. It looks like a couple of them have died too. I managed to catch one to report but they are hard to catch when they run around in such an erratic way.

TThe bots are no longer stationary, and have somehow figured out how to follow a lead character, despite the soft-targeting system.

They don't follow a char, they (as you say) follow a predetermined route, just grouped. There's a rather popular scripting program for ESO that is easy to find by Googling or searching in Youtube (no way in hell I'm giving details) that scripts complex paths, auto-attack, auto-loot, etc. Been around since beta I think. I've seen bots following complex paths and actions for a few weeks.
  • mark.coogan_ESO
The botting problem is now worse rather than better and is going to get increasingly worse as the bot scripts improve in sophistication - and all thanks to the idiotic clientside design that the amateurs at ZOS decided to implement.

It is impossible to even quest now in Vivec's Antlers.

There are more bots than players.

I am spending more time reporting these parasites than playing.

The report feature MUST be changed to show the character AND account name.

It isn't rocket science, it is absolutely obvious which characters are bots. GM's should be present throughout the day to eliminate these vermin.

Almost to the point where the game should be renamed to Elder Bots Online.
