Really unhappy with the unreliability of event grab bags

Saberkeel and Worm Cult pages being simultaneously available from both the event reward boxes and the Bag of Jubilee Yesteryear is weird and sets bad precedent for event rewards going forward.

Grab bags ought to be a firm thing. Make the decision to retire old items, let there be an in-game market for them, and continue to make them available as BoP during events with the catch-up bags. That encourages players to participate in events, allows a healthy trading market, and allows players to reliably get items by spending Tickets/Crowns during events.

Reshuffling old rewards into the current loot drastically undermines perceived value from events. Without healthy markets for event items, people don't have much reason to participate in events past what they directly need for themselves, and I see it all the time where people stop after just a day or two. As a trading guild leader, I cannot say with any confidence that guildies will benefit from farming events since rewards mostly take up inventory space and are just as likely to decrease in value over time as increase.

On a related note, the grab bags are presented poorly, and the following changes would help to better encourage Crown purchases:
–add to the tooltip a list of what is contained and/or a dynamic completion tracker (e.g. "You've collected 34/77 of these rewards")
–allow multiple to be purchased simultaneously
–increase the cap on Event Tickets to accommodate bulk purchases

This is probably part of a bigger issue of not having enough interesting rewards during events--events would benefit greatly from expanding Impressario options.

As for increasing the cap on Event Tickets - I've always felt it's too low. That's one of the reasons I decided a few years ago to learn Lua enough to write an addon to warn people when they needed to spend tickets to avoid going over cap.

It's better now; ZOS has added a warning to quests. But it doesn't cover cake for Anniversary, or monster drops for Witches or Undaunted. (Mine does.)

About the grab bags - more information would be very useful. Except in the Patch Notes, it's often very hard to even find out what might be available in them. This year's include parts for the Aurora Firepot Spider, which I discovered since I'd never bothered to get that on the EU. Those parts are still cheap as dirt. So if considering spending tickets on that grab bag - make sure you already have the spider pet.

Way too many of the grab bags I tried were either empty, or contained just one Desecrated Soil (the style mat for Worm Cult), although I still have plenty of things uncollected.
    Event Tracker addon (PC NA/EU)
Helps you keep track of your Event Tickets, so you don't miss any. Double XP on events is PASSIVE now!!

the other part i hate about the grab bags is for stuff like motif chapters, if your on the WRONG toon and buy a grab bag, you will get something you already know (because it is basing the availability of items in the grab bag on your CURRENT logged in toons knowledge, which in the case of motifs are tracked per character, not account wide like style pages)

I'm not sure I understand the complaint.

The entire purpose of the grab bags is to house the old event rewards as a method for new players to get stuff they may have missed out on. The moment you have all of those rewards, you cannot even buy the bags anymore.

So, why would they not add additional old rewards to the bags? That's their purpose.

New rewards are always sold standalone.

That's not the problem. The grab bags drop bound versions of the style pages that can not be resold, the event boxes drop unbound versions of the pages that can be resold. Historically, ZOS has moved previous year's styles to the grab bags and removed them from subsequent year's event boxes, this creates a scarcity of the unbound event pages and keeps the value of farming them during their initial release event high as they can no longer be obtained in their unbound form from future events.
Lately however, ZOS has shifted towards not removing the old style pages from the event boxes, meaning that the value of the unbound pages continues to drop over time rather than grow as in subsequent years the supply continues to increase.
This change means that there is not much value in farming additional pages as their value decreases every subsequent repeat event.
Personally, I wish there was a happy medium, for example, rotating through a limited selection of some previous year's motifs but not having them available every year. This would allow their value to grow since it they wouldn't be back every year, but still keep the value from ballooning out of control as there would still be some new supply injected into the market.

the reason why everything from the grab bags is bound is because anything bought with tickets is bound

i think that is their way to prevent someone with deep pockets from just buying tickets to buy 1 motif chapter and flood the market (no idea why someone would do that, but its possible if they were unbound)

if true, having the worm cult pages drop as they should be from event boxes is absolutely the right thing to do. They should not have been in grab bags but I don't mind them being in both at all.

The achievement was hard enough to get with the low drop chances and getting the motif for multiple characters like you could with other event motifs has been nearly impossible.

I hate those motifs being in grab bags because you're pretty much compelled to buy tickets if you want the current event gimmick as well as stuff that should be extant but is considered retired.

Never liked the grab bag idea. If anything older stuff should be available as separate, individual items not in some rng collection for tickets. Maybe have a yesteryear vendor like they did with indriks with individual listings of older stuff.
