Class change tokens are a terrible idea.
1. It gives ZOS an economic incentive to intentionally make classes imbalanced to get people to buy the tokens.
2. Imbalanced classes ruins the game for people who enjoy playing one over the other. And if people aren’t enjoying the game anymore, that’s when they start quitting.

If the tokens are always purchasable you are probably very much right.
However, I've proposed on two or so occasions following implementation that allows players to switch one of their characters once to a new class when such a new class becomes available.
The implementation should be as follows:
- tokens will not be purchasable. Never ever.
- one single one-time token is made available to each player account when a new class is released. This token is removed from the account once used.
- the character for which the token is used retains his total number of skill points but loses all experience gathered for their old class. This character would have to farm experience again for the new class skills.
- optional: This token might be restricted in such a way that it only allows a switch to the newly released class.
This implementation is imho a good compromise. It answers to the wish of several players to switch a charachter to another class because they started to feel they've made a bad choice (from an rpg point of view this might happen) or because they imagined their character as a class that however was not available when the character was created. It would also prevent class hopping and as it would work only once or twice depending of the number of new classes in the future and hence would not result in a large loss of unsold skill line or sky shard sales via the crown store.

OMG. The tears will be so delicious when people regret their change a month later.

Maybe. But this is already the case. I have a one or two toons that I don't like playing. And this without any class change token at all...
the1andonlyskwex wrote: »Sure, but you can at least go back to your previous character the way things are now. A one-time class change wouldn't have that option.
Perhaps it's time for ZOS to recognise the plethora of threads on this, all of them poorly supported compared to threads covering issues that matter to most players, and stop dangling false hopes by using phrases along the lines of "no current plans", "not at this time" etc, by issuing a clear an unequivocal statement that they will not introduce class change tokens. I think that would benefit everyone, including ZOS.
