I'm definitely going to create a new Arcanist alt character on each server. Whether I play on it very much is another matter; I already have several alts of various classes and races who I seldom play on. What is this DK thing that so many players go on about? Or Warden, or Necromancer, etc.? Oh, I think I have one or two of those lounging about in my player housing!

As far as whether or not I'd have found Spellcrafting more enjoyable, it seems kind of pointless to ponder since I don't think it's very likely to ever happen; plus it was never even announced for this chapter, so why would I have gotten excited about it?

Getting back to classes, I may have just one particular character on each server who I play almost exclusively on, and I may tend to not use their class abilities very much, but their classes do add to their overall RP backgrounds and personalities for me. I tend to play all TES games that way; I choose a class, but then I still tend to focus on the specific armor types, weapon types, attributes, and skills which always seem to be my go-tos, regardless of the character's class and race. Yet despite the fact that I tend to play all classes more or less the same as each other, the differences between them do add color and flavor to each character.
I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than me!

Spellcrafting would be amazing for casual players with fun builds. But a nightmare to balance and probably isn't entirely realistic. ZOS is probably shooting themselves in the foot for ever suggesting it. But I liked the idea of hunting for runes and combining a fire rune and an atronach rune into a flame atronach pet etc...

Arcanist is... I mean. It's cool, I love it thematically but it's also heavily styalised and restrictive when it comes to RP. And I also have two characters I love that have everything completed so it's not like I'll ever main one.

I think the one feature ZOS could give us that'd have me excited is Roleplaying realms/phases. That'd lock me into this game for another decade easily. No matter how bad the chapters are.
Desperate for Roleplaying servers to bring open world non-organised RP to Elder Scrolls Online. Please ZOS.

    Arcanist (new class)
Arcanist looks really cool, but there is also appeal in new skill lines to modify existing classes. Spellcrafting, it would really depend on how it was implemented as to whether or not I would enjoy it. It’s not something I ever did much with in the single player titles.

I have absolutely no idea why some people want a bars class. Bards as musicians and story tellers fit within the world of ESO but a D&D bard class would not. An illusionist class or skill line could be fun though. And alteration — my Telvanni would like to levitate without using an invisible fungal steed!

Spellcrafting is fine in a single-player game but completely unworkable in a MMO.

    Spellcrafting
Spellcrafting. Being able to design (to a point) our own spells for our current characters is more exciting than the prospect of starting from scratch with a new class. 180 days of mount training, all the quests, all the skyshards, the psijic order grind, mages guild books, legerdemain if you wanted, grinding crafting if you wanted. It's all very daunting and tedious at this point.

Which is a big reason IMO why they went the new class route because you can skip a lot of that tedium with the crown store. How about that!

Spellcrafting for skills is not worth the risks and work that it would be required to implement it.

    Spellcrafting
Even if spellcrafting ended up being pretty watered down and only of interest to roleplayers, that's the feature I want most.

That said, I'm not unhappy with Arcanist. This is probably the most excited I've been for a new class.

    Arcanist (new class)
I wanted a new class provided I didn't have to delete any characters to play it. And seeing as it comes with 2 extra character slots, I'm happy.
