I dunno. I like getting new classes. I don’t think I will switch my main. But for me leveling is fun.
A new class would be an amazing feature if they allowed class swapping (either paid or in-game).
This expansion makes class swapping Lore Friendly. It was Hermaeus Mora that let you respec in Skyrim after all and he is always willing to trade knowledge for other knowledge.
But yeah... with no way to access it on existing characters it is basically a dead feature to a large percent of the playerbase and Necrom will effectively add LESS than High Isle to the game for those players.

Necromancer doesn't count?

- Paying ZOS more money to buy crystal shards to get all skill points
- Paying ZOS more money to learn all old guild skill lines
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Or enjoy the game as you play a new character without rushing through to some imaginary end point.
The game isn't fun. Overland content is trivial and the only thing that keeps me going is Cyrodill and I haven't played this game in over a year logging in for the first time for a half hour the other day because Cyrodill is so damn laggy.
Not sure how you find spending 6 months to catch up training in everything or spending more cash to level up guild skillines and get skill points is fun or productive especially when overland offers no challenge (including World Bosses). Really whats the point of leveling a new class over the same boring lifeless non challenging content ontop of doing the 6 month grind.
I also don't understand how people play alts. One character to do everything is all I have ever done so essentially anytime they release a new class I only get half the content but to each their own.
I check back in Q4 with the new system.
Always cracks me up when someone who doesn't even play the game comes to give their opinion.
You play half an hour a year?
You've only had one character ever?
You don't see the point in a new class?
Tell you what change I'd like to see-- people that don't log in to the game at least once a month should have their forum account closed. This is the OFFICIAL forums, right? Not reddit?
because he stopped the game, probably bcs of changes he didnt like he can't talk say what he think? Because you are H24 here it mean you know better? You know ppl are not blind and they can see what's new?

So you want to silence people who have opinions on how the game could be better?
I’m not playing the game currently but I have in the past and I have been since 2014. I am going to voice my opinions on the state of the game, how it could be better, what I would be excited for in a potential return.
A positive white knight echo chamber does nothing.

Spell crafting was never going to be a thing. People got all excited about it, and I agree it sounds amazing, but all it does it add uncontrollable nuance to a game they're already struggling to balance.
At most the spell crafting thing was going to manifest as a couple extra morphs of skills (decided by them,) that players could buy/build/find via some new antiquities feature. If you thought for a moment you were going to make your own spells do whatever you want then you were sorely mistaken.
Adding a new class is nice. A new guild would've been cool. A new weapon was my personal wish... But a new class is nice.
This is overly pessimistic and baseless.

Are you new to MMOs?
Been playing them for 20 years, myself. What that person said is 100% truth.
Spell crafting was never going to work. Sure it can work in a single player environment, but in an MMO it simply can't. Balance issues are bad enough with the classes we have. Adding player created spells to the mix would destroy balance entirely.
The only way to make it work would be to limit to the point where it stops being spell crafting and just ends up being a new skill tree.
Stop ignoring the obvious just because you desperately want something.
Pick your damage type from four options. Each spell will deal exactly the same amount of damage. Pick whether it is targeted, on the player or around the player.
The end.
That is what spellcrafting would look like if the game is to stay balanced. It would be a total waste of time. I mean, by all means, if people want it, ZOS can give you it. It would probably take all of 30 minutes to design and do essentially nothing different from skills already in the game.
The new class, meanwhile, looks to have actually unique abilities and mechanics, eg teleporting. Which look rather more interesting than what spellcrafting, realistically, ever would be. With the same advantage as every other new class can have: not every type of character can have every type of skill, lending the game *variety*.
Spellcrafting as an actually useful, flexible, meaningful mechanic simply is not compatible with a game that offers PvP because none of the crazy stuff would make it through the balancing process. No levitating to finish Morrowind in 8 seconds, no 100% chameleon in Oblivion so that everything dies without the player taking a scratch. You just end up with very polite, very pointless spells that end up in practice the same for every player.
Now, what you COULD do is introduce a new skills line that is accumulated not by levelling up but by some other mechanic. Like antiquities but with spell books or something. The *activity* of acquiring the skills, the possibility of merging them once you had skills x and y to create skill z, would then be potentially interesting, rather than just "spend skill point to morph". But that is not what people are asking for.

On Fakebook people are always whining about a new class. This will shut them up for a while.
For me, that's the point of a new class.

New class may have been number 1 over spellcrafting but was the new class everyone desired another caster?
Bard was the most requested new class, and one hand weapon + spell the second most requested. Instead we get another caster with a very green effects palette. There's nothing unique or exciting about another caster, other than its portal which is going to cause so many problems it will be nerfed hard.
Necromancer was pretty novel for the game. Warden too. Both casters with unique approaches to pets. Why another caster instead of something more unique like a bard or shapeshifter class? A new class that brings something brand new to the game.
But hey at least it's not a unarmed monk class! I'm totally opposed to unarmed classes in worlds full of godly weapons and magical armor.

And the only way a business does that is to supply what the customers want. A company that doesn't do that doesn't survive 9 years, let alone grow its customer base exponentially.

I'm sure at this point the customers want class identity, a combat balance that doesn't involve nerfing the game into oblivion, some actual content that feels like someone put an effort into, servers that can keep up with the game, etc. A new class with more animation is not going to help the game.

Come back to me on that when you see how many arcanists are running around in June.

I never said it wouldn't sell. People who want a new class will buy a new class but before this class hit the shelves, the before mentioned issues should've been addressed.
