Will Removing my CP increase the difficulty?

I'm over 1500CP and with new chapters I just absolutely demolish brand new content. So much so I don't think I've died in ESO outside of Cyrodill since I first started playing the game. With the new content coming I am disheartened to know, I am probably just going to smash thru Hermaeus Mora's domain like its nothing and the danger wont be felt because there is no danger to my hero.

So I was sitting here thinking, how can I make overland content fun again and actually feel dangerous?

Remove all my CP, does this make a difference? The reveal doesn't make me want to come back yet, maybe Q4 does but the non challenge of overland content makes the game seem boring with no real danger. I need a challenge.

What are some other ideas since ZoS doesn't really seem to care.

cp2.0 is much lower impact than cp1.0 on your characters, so unslotting all of your cp and passives will only make you slightly less survivable and slightly lower dmg if you know what your doing

you can even test the effect without removing your cp by just going into the no-cp/no-proc IC and fight the mobs there

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

I mean... yeah that would make you weaker.

I usually use an "unsupported" weapon set of single one handed weapon while playing overland for RP reasons. It is still easy, but having one less set slot and an entire item worth of bonuses also makes you weaker. So that's an option.

Much of power cames from gear, so you can try make some weak gear - white sets without upgrading, maybe even lower level. Choose something weak, but with nice effects for more roleplay. Don't eat buff food. Change mundus stone to something lame. You can even respec your stamina/magicka atributtes and don't use these points at all. Don't choose meta skills, try avoid skill buffs and passives - just use whatever visually you like.

Probably still be easy, but just longer to kill everything.

I am not sure as 1T, the content scales with you, I don't think that just means scales with CP, but scales with your stats.

Try make a level 1 crafter set and weapons, take all your attributes and CP off and go see what happens if you fight a mudcrab or a skeever.

Pretty sure I read somewhere monsters and world bosses only scale up to CP 160 so after that, you grow but the enemies don't

Well removing armor and weapons would be boring, no cp and just punching things naked. Not my idea of a fun even if it makes thing slightly harder. There needs to be some balance of fun and hard.

My thought is to try going without cp, and only level 1 non set, non enchanted, basic gear.

Have you tried running sets that have odd sounding effects? That's what I like to do when I do overland stuff. It won't make it much harder but it might at least be fun to experiment.

Not really. I did a test after CP 2.0's release by doing vMA with no CP slotted and was able to do it with little problem. Remove your set bonuses and use white gear, or even go gearless, and you'll amp up the "difficulty". In reality everything just becomes a bullet sponge with the same attack patterns so it's not necessarily more engaging as a result.

It's the healing in overland that's too powerful. Remove passive healing and things change a lot as seen in shadowfen quest

    Yeah this makes sense.
Same reason why now dungeons like vet fungal grotto are just so damn easy where new DLC dungeons still pose a threat, simply because the old dungeons are still scaled to old vet ranks, max 160CP where new dungeons are scaled higher.

No monsters scale up to cp 300 in regards to difficulty on overland

I was afraid this was the case. I am trying to find a reason to come back. Logged into the game for the first time in over a year because of the reveal and was completely underwhelmed with the review. I was really hoping for something to pull me back in but I will just check back in Q4 if I haven't found a new time sink.

I normally play with no CP, except a few of the green stars which don't affect combat at all, and it does make things a bit harder. I have a build saved in the armoury with CP for when I'm playing in a group and it's needed or expected and if I forget to swap back after doing a dungeon or something there's a noticable difference.

The question is whether it's enough of a difference to make it fun for you, and I don't think anyone else can work that out.

The good news is since the armoury system came in it's gotten easier to try it. Make sure your current build is saved and then strip out all your CP and see how it goes. If you don't like it or it's not working as you hoped you can just use the armoury to swap back.

Using lower level gear might be more effective, but it's also more hassle to set up and if you want to use the character for other things you'll need to store another set of gear which can be annoying. I keep thinking I should try it to see how it compares but I've never actually gotten around to doing it.

CP can give you too much advantage depending on what you select. Other than that it's not so bad.

The worst offenders IMO is excessive self-healing and sustain.

AoE spam is another. Try only using ultimates if at all.

Ideally you should be forced to play the mechanics of the content in order not to die. Target prioritization.

Vampirism to reduce health recovery. Heal only with potions (you may run with potion cooldown glyphs). Recover resources only with heavy attacks.

Wear no armor, or very basic armor.

    That kind of stuff.

Find a nerf build and save it in the armory for questing.
