New player wonders "what am I missing?"

I played all kind of video games with a trackball mouse and an old mechanical keyboard for like +10 years, then around 10 years more with a wireless optical mouse and a wireless keyboard.

I'm wondering the age of those kids who say it can't be.

Nice to see so many fellow trackball users lurking about. Getting on just fine with a Logitech Trackman and have for many, many years. Been told countless times I can't possibly play games with it

OP as others have suggested, maybe try experimenting with your keyboard layout.

Xbox 360 controller for combat (mapped with Xpadder), keyboard and mouse for everything else.

I think it is like playing a guitar in that you need practice. I use the mouse of course and rotate with the mouse. Also I use 3rd person view. I can't imagine going the view behind the eyes.

My left hand I have my middle finger on 'w' and it can switch down to 's'.. then pointer on 'd' and pinky on 'a'.

So my other spells are bound to 1-5, R, and Q. With my pinky I use '1' my melee damage spam. '2' I hit with any of my of my pink, middle, or index. '3' I use middle finger. '4' i use index. '5' I use index... 'Q' I use with pinky... 'R' is right hand or pointer... With a lot of practice I can move around and do dodging rolls or back steps and use 1-5 etc at the same time. Indeed it is like a guitar.
