Ingame Reward Wish List

I created this thread in comparison to the "Crown Store Item Wish List", which just reached it's 166th page with almost 5000 posts by now. (Wow!)
But there's no post regarding what the playerbase would see as justifiable ingame rewards so here we go!

Over the past 8 years, we've seen all kinds of different rewards in exchange for playing the content that Zenimax provided, including quests, events, public dungeons and entire zone achievements, maximizing guild skill lines and succeeding in trials, dungeons, the antiquity system and the newly added card game "Tales of Tribute".
These 8 years give us a good spectrum of what lies in the developers range of possibilities to reward their playerbase for spending time on 'The Elderscrolls Online'.
So why not use our impressions of the established reward system and put down what we, the playerbase, would like to be rewarded with for engaging into future content.

What type of reward, be it a pet, a memento, a fancy new costume or even something that hasn't been seen before would you like to be rewarded with for once?
And which kind of content would you connect it to regarding your chosen rewards value?

PLEASE do not misuse this post for unconstructive criticism regarding previous rewards or to bash against Zenimax Online Studios and it's developers.

I think we get a lot of mementos from content, no? I think many public dungeons reward them for completion.

I really liked the rewards from some past events — indrik mounts, the Grim Harvester costume, unique target dummies, the Deadlands personality, Doomchar plateau. I loved the furnishing drops plus available for tickets during Witches’ Festival 2021!

As for rewards outside of events… I like having things to work toward like achievement furnishings and new furnishing writs.

Oh, I think it would be great region/lore/chapter themed costumes, emotes, personalities and mounts were available during the release of the content, including a few more in game.

I'd like some reputation grind items, I'd also like to be able to earn some more mundane regional items, and I'd like the quest rewards/achievement rewards to shift a bit.

For example, it's probably been a decade since I actively played LOTRO but I still remember the rep mounts I had for the Inn League and the Council of the North.

I've got over 20 mounts and probably over 40 costumes but, my characters clearly look out of place a fair bit of the time because I either don't have any item that fits the area or it's too flashy.

I think the rewards for significant quests should level with the player and be higher quality and I think some of the items you get at the achievement vendor should be quest rewards in addition to being available on the vendor.

It is more meaningful to get items from the people you helped than it is to go off to some loosely related vendor and buy them after you've gotten an achievement. Plus, many of us are simply not wealthy the first time we do quests and as a result may not be able to afford the relevant items.

With many good things already implemented, there is still a lot to be done.

Without specifying details i would be happy if really serious achievements were rewarded with something noticeable.
Trifecta trial mounts are a good example, as they are recognizable. To be recognized is, in my humble opinion, is the key.

What i would like to see are:
    - the set of the a military uniform costumes looking more solid with the PVP rank achieved. Emperors costume is awseome, but where are the smaller ones?
    - recognizeable tradeable mounts for each year AvA "Alliance Tournament"s held by @ZOS each year on the 2x2 3x3 12x12 arenas (and, please, @ZOS, make them arenas because AvA battles do happen in Cyro with teams and judges, but it is uneasy to stop bullies aimed to disrupt the competition (like these crazy football spectators rushing into the field)). Had i mentioned EVE Online has Alliance Tourtaments and Alliance Open rewarding winners with unique (and as their number is very limited) spaceships the winners can keep as a collectible or sell for a huge amount of ingame currency
    - grant Master Anglers a slow and shiny yellow snail mount to reward theirs incredible patience
    - implement some Guild leaderboards with rewards. Guilds require more love than they receive now. This could help Guilds to rally players for the Guilds achievements. Could be some containers with meaningful rewards
    - make yearly housing contests to award the winners some unique tradeable shiny furnishings (to be kept or sold for a lemon)

TL/DR; more unique recognizable rewards and tradeable unique shiny collectibles for the tournaments / contests held by Zenimax

Practical ways to get a reliable supply of gold upgrade mats. Especially for Jewels.

Dreugh Wax is up to 36k on pc NA. It takes 8 pieces with passives to upgrade a single piece. A full set of L or M gold armor, would cost 2,016,000 gold to upgrade. That's just the body armor.

There is no way a new player is going to get enough gold and/or refine enough materials to get a full gold loadout within 6 months of playtime following common play patterns.

Random dungeon and BG daily should provide 1 gold mat to go with your transmutes.

Then it would be cool to see map completion have tiered rewards, some of which could have gold mats

Then a Dwemer Motorcycle, that you can only get from stuff you might find in IC.

I totally agree! I'm very much for collectibles that are true to lore and that make sense in the context of the place where you find them. Generally speaking, no matter if achievement rewards or crownstore items: I really hope that the developers keep in mind that some players prefer a nice lore-conforming mount or costume that fits the player character's blackground/story over a random flashy thing anytime. Of course, the latter ones are naturally more eye-catching, but not everyone cares for attention, let alone does everyone find lore-breaking sparkly glowy items impressive (I rather find them ugly and tacky, to be honest; so I won't even notice whether it's an achievement reward, because I just think "eww..." and that's it). I know of course, that people all have a diffferent taste, so it would be nice to give people a variety of things.

The latest chapter has introduced more rewards that are furnishing mats (from ToT match rewards), and also furnishing plans for the same source. I do housing so you think I’d be very excited about this, but I’m not. Mostly because it is a boatload of blue plans, which are not valuable at all and are further saturating the market and driving the price down. Also, a lot of events drop these same blue plans and just about all my alts know them now too.

I don’t want to play a card game in the hopes that I get a specific mat or plan. That is unlikely to happen. I’m also not going to play a lot of matches until I get what I need.

I think the reward should match the activity. Farming mats should give furnishing mats. The more you farm, the more you get.

I have enjoyed getting the ToT table and the card deck, plus the trophies. Those are definitely appropriate rewards, in my opinion, for the story quests especially. As for player matches, it’s nice to get some random mats and plans but might not help much in the long run.

I don't play this game anymore because there's no content to work towards. Game retention is non-existent after a certain point. This is because there's very few interesting things to grind for aside from motifs and sets. Adding more cosmetics into the game that can be earned through grinding and hard work, like WoW, all over the game including in old zones would breathe new life into this game. Want zones to be populated? Add stuff that players WANT to get to those zones! This could be as complicated as adding new or even old cash shop exclusive items to monster drop tables at a really low drop rate all over the game, adding them to bosses in overland content and dungeons, giving weird things you need to do in certain orders to make things spawn or make things obtainable, secrets and the like... To as simple as a couple times a day you can earn a crown crate by doing x y and z.

You know what isn't player friendly?
"You can earn stuff from crown crates! But it takes a year of consistent, daily grinding to get 1 thing you want."

The lazy option I just mentioned with the earnable crown crates wouldn't be very dynamic and wouldn't be as fun as the first example, the more WoW like example... But it would be a start.

I would realy like to see more abstract rewards.
Leaderboard overhaul that doesn't reset after every patch with rewards tied to your position.
For example you could get a mount/title/skin/whatever for being placed top 1000/100/10 on a certain raidleaderboard or maybe the position itself is reward enough.
Also rewards you can unlock as a guild that might have the logo from your guildtabard on them.
They way rewards are unlocked combined with a special twist for the rewards itself that indicates where they are from is the way to go for me.

More nice dyes and costumes. I loved the Sunforge Patina dye that was awarded for completing the Deadlands DLC. And themed costumes (like the Antiquities reward) make a nice souvenir for the content.

In future, maybe some themed furnishings? Themed storage containers would be fabulous.

Drop some actual furnishings and not just furnishing plans, maybe some that can't be made from furnishing plans like plants and zone decour from that zone that are not in the home goods furnishing merchants.

Rather than receive something as reward, my sincere wish is for a wider variety of basic furnishings.

For example, I recently had an idea for a house that would require long polished wooden logs (there's a topic about it here) and that simply doesn't exist! Apparently there's a close call to it, but it's not the whole log, only half of it, and construct an entire house would cost me a lot of slots.

I've also seen other people asking for plain ropes, like one of the Thieves Guilds' Hideouts have, so they could hang some Hakoshae Lanterns. Or perhaps a REAL, clay-made oven which, apparently, ZOS already have the models for it, just need to make a furnishing out of it.
Random dungeon and BG daily should provide 1 gold mat to go with your transmutes
I totally agree with you, prices are skyrocketing out of control. But I think that for this suggestion to work, only the first random BG/DG you do should have a 50% chance of rewarding you the upgrade, otherwise the market would really be impacted.

I am the very model of a scientist Salarian, I've studied species Turian, Asari, and Batarian.
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology) because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology).
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a Scientist Salarian.

Personally, I'd like for player houses purchasable for gold to make a return. Bretons received none after 8 years of waiting for one and remain next to Orcs as the second race of the Covenant with no gold home. I am very curious if Redguards will also be met with a bill instead of a house as an ingame reward.

Additionally I'd like Zenimax to not reuse the "Clockwork Obscuros" memento with different vfx as a reward for completing public dungeons or zones anymore. We've been rewarded the same memento with different projections displayed floating over the palm of our characters hand multiple times by now. Instead I'd much prefer mementos that come close to a souvenir, which the character might have picked up and brought with themselves from the place they visited and have them handle those instead. The items don't even necessarily be all exciting magic thingies, but could be as simple as the /spyglass emote.

Just something that allows us to actively brief more life into our character and allows us to show off to other players which adventures we've been a part of.

Personally I mostly prefer emotes over mementos, especially emotes that end in an ongoing idle. F.e. the /teebawarmup or /marshmallowtreat emotes. The same thing doesn't work with mementos, as they only last for a couple of seconds and have to be restarted manually. - Btw, I would really like to see alternative sitting emotes for characters!

Also, I'd like to see more titles, rewarded for harder achievements, which got a bit of a certain ring to them. Something that either has other players read it and go "Oof, what did they had to do for that one? That's cool."
or more titles commonly in the overall fantasy franchise that could fit well with popular character concepts. Such as f.e. the title "Pirate" from southern Elsweyr.

Of course I'd really love to see mounts as an achievable reward. Somethign that isn't locked behind the hardest achievement ingame, that does not only require my but the full blown efforts of 11 more people. If this game had the same amount of mounts available through achievements as through crown crates, it would probably see a big spike in player count.
